Clinician I/II

Job Summary County of Yolo Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) is recruiting a full‑time, regular Clinician in the Behavioral Health branch to work with Behavioral Health Crisis Receiving Centers (BHCRC). The BHCRC provides a safe, trauma‑informed environment for adults, TAY aged 18‑26, and older adults in mental health and substance‑use crisis, diverting them from emergency rooms and law enforcement encounters. Responsibilities Conduct assessments on individuals connected with BHCRC, SHCH, and inpatient acute settings. Provide short‑term therapy, case management, and crisis services. Conduct risk assessments and 5150 involuntary holds. Interview clients to determine social, psychological, legal, and personal history for diagnostic formulation. Write or dictate clinical chart notes for each patient contact. Assess client progress regularly and modify treatment plans to meet goals. Evaluate behavioral health emergencies and make appropriate referrals. Monitor medication effects and refer to staff psychiatrist as needed. Consult with other professional staff on difficult cases. Participate in seminars, provide feedback, and guide treatment alternatives. Research, prepare, and deliver presentations to community groups and agencies about behavioral health topics. Perform related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or Marriage and Family Counseling from an accredited institution. For a Clinician I, the program must include one year of graduate coursework in personality development, counseling theory, counseling techniques, and supervised clinical experience. For a Clinician II, a Master’s Degree is required plus two years of full‑time, professional postgraduate experience in a psychiatric social work or rehabilitative counseling setting. Experience and Licensure Clinician I applicants may be license‑eligible to receive licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, or Licensed Clinical Psychologist, but must obtain licensure within three years of employment. Clinician II applicants must possess a valid license as one of the above categories. Knowledge and Abilities Broad knowledge of theories of alcohol and drug problems, addictions, psychological development disorders, and social aspects of emotional disturbance. Ability to apply counseling theories, assess and diagnose clients, communicate effectively, maintain cooperative relationships with county departments, state and federal agencies, and mental health staff. Employment Standards Clinicians will work Monday‑Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. subject to change based on department needs.
