Job Title

Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Location

Peoria, IL | Acute Care

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Every other weekend required (Saturday & Sunday) | Rotating holidays

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 63-bed Surgical Acute unit, including post-operative surgical patients, trauma cases, and overflow medical patients
• Perform and manage wound care, dressing changes, IV therapy, pain management, drain management, NG tubes, central lines, and TPN
• Monitor and manage patients on CPAP and high-flow oxygen; administer inhalers as indicated
• Collaborate with PCTs, charge nurses, and a 24/7 house supervisor to maintain safe nurse-to-patient ratios
• Float to units of equivalent experience level as needed; travelers are first to float
• Maintain accurate documentation using the EPIC electronic health records system

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• Current BLS certification required
• Must be able to pass a drug screen; facility maintains a drug-free campus policy
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience in post-operative patient care and surgical acute settings
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring (Phillips monitors in use on unit)
• Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to recognize when to escalate and seek assistance
• Demonstrated teamwork, communication, and bedside manner in a fast-paced acute care environment
