Job Description
Surgical Circulator

General Information

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Circulator for our surgical department. The facility features 6 Operating Rooms and 1 Cysto Room, with a maximum concurrent operation of 6 rooms. Our Central Sterile department is equipped with decontamination and clean/autoclave facilities.

Patient Ratios

The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:1.

Required Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

Preferred Skills

Strong circulator skills and extensive experience with robotic surgeries are essential. Core specialties include General, GYN, Urology, and Vascular surgery.

Support on the Unit

The unit is supported by 4 Team Leaders and 3 Materials staff along with OR Assistants.

Technology and Equipment

• Electronic Medical Records (EMR): Cerner
• IV Pumps: Plum 360
• Medication Dispensing: Omnicell
• Monitors: Spacelabs

Orientation and Scheduling

Orientation typically lasts 2-3 shifts, with an assessment after this period to ensure readiness for call shifts. Scheduling includes a rotation with weekend requirements, including 1 weekend day (24 hours) of call per month and 1 weeknight per week from 3 PM to 6:30 AM. Holiday call may be necessary based on contract timing, with limits set at 1 holiday per 26 weeks. Requests for time off (RTO) will be reviewed by management.

Shift Times

Shifts may vary and include:

• 5x8: 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM
• 4x10: 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM
• 4x10: 11:00 AM - 9:30 PM
• 3x12: 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM (weekend shifts Friday-Sunday)

One Surgical Tech or Circulator is generally scheduled per shift, with backfill options available to maintain a variety of shift types. Note that block scheduling requests during the week may be limited, although efforts will be made to accommodate longer weekends for travelers to visit home during their contract.
