Location: Plano, Texas | Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Opportunity

A well-established manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join its engineering team at its Grapeland, Texas facility.


This is a hands-on engineering role focused on the design and development of safe, efficient, and innovative steel joist and decking solutions . The Senior Design Engineer will provide technical expertise, solve complex engineering challenges, and contribute to continuous improvement across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop steel joist and steel decking systems.
  
  
• Provide technical guidance on complex engineering and design challenges.
  
  
• Review designs for quality, safety, code compliance, and performance.
  
  
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and other teams to deliver customer solutions.
  
  
• Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, productivity, and product quality.
  
  
• Support and mentor other design professionals as needed.
  
  
• Apply engineering standards, codes, and best practices to design projects.
  
  

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural Engineering, or related field.
  
  
• Strong experience in structural engineering and/or steel design.
  
  
• Strong understanding of engineering principles, design practices, and structural systems.
  
  
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  
  
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  
  

Preferred:

• Experience with steel joist, decking, structural steel, or metal building systems.
  
  
• Familiarity with AISC, SJI, SDI, ASCE , and applicable building codes.
  
  
• Experience with engineering/design software and automated design tools.
  
  
• Manufacturing environment experience.
  
  

Compensation & Benefits

• $120,000-$140,000 Base Salary
  
  
• ROA Bonus: Up to 33%
  
  
• Company Profit Sharing: Up to 15%
  
  
• 3 Weeks PTO
