Substitute Nurse

QUALIFICATIONS:


Valid Missouri license to practice as an RN, LPN, EMT, or Nusring Assistant for current year.

REPORTS TO:


Building Administrator and Director of Nursing

JOB GOAL:


To provide the fullest possible educational opportunity for each student by minimizing absences due to illness and creating a climate of health and well-being in the school.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Promotes prevention, treatment, and wellness of students and staff through early detection and referral for treatment of health problems. Follow-up with referrals in a timely manner as indicated.
2. Follows orders for first aid and emergency care for students and staff. Is familiar with and follows school health manuals, policies and procedures for all school health offices.
3. Assists in maintaining a safe and healthy school environment. Actively participates in disaster drills.
4. Responsible for the early identification and exclusion of students and staff with communicable disease to prevent further outbreak and spreading of the disease, by enforcing school board policies and local and state statutes regarding these diseases.
5. Reports suspected cases of child abuse or neglect to The Division of Family Services Hot Line as regulated by Missouri statutes and reports any cases of suspected abuse to the Superintendent and Building Principals.
6. Maintains confidentiality of all health records. Maintains clinic log and medication administration logs.
7. Is familiar with and follows emergency action plans for all students and staff whom have special health needs such as asthma, diabetes, history of severe anaphylaxis, etc.
8. Monitors medication administration, supplies appropriate forms and follows regulations regarding narcotic/controlled substance administration to students.
9. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum and maximum daily rate of pay dependent on whether the candidate is an LPN or RN.
