Lead Scientist

Lead Scientist position at Cytiva developing mammalian cell culture media and high-throughput workflows. Responsible for designing and executing formulation studies through commercialization, with emphasis on perfusion applications and bioreactor systems. Reports to Sr Scientist in Logan, Utah on-site.

Responsibilities

• Lead cell culture media development from concept through formulation optimization, scale-up, and commercialization
• Design and execute mammalian cell culture experiments using shake flasks, high-throughput systems, and bioreactors with rigorous statistical analysis
• Develop and optimize media and process strategies for perfusion cell culture at laboratory, pilot, or manufacturing scale
• Serve as technical lead on cross-functional teams managing risk and delivering outcomes across product, manufacturing, and regulatory functions
• Independently solve complex technical problems, document protocols and reports, and share technical knowledge and best practices

Requirements

• Bachelor's in biochemical/chemical engineering, biotechnology, cell biology, or related field with 8+ years experience; or Master's with 6+ years; or PhD with 2+ years
• Hands-on mammalian cell culture media development including formulation, screening, and shake-flask/bioreactor evaluation
• Hands-on perfusion cell culture experience at any scale with process design, operation, and data analysis
• Proficiency in high-throughput experimentation and assay development for formulation/process decisions
• Demonstrated ability to independently design experiments, analyze complex datasets using statistical methods, communicate technical conclusions
