Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00A-4:30PCompensation: $23/hour increases based on experience
SSM Health Day Institute is seeking a COTA to work in our specialized outpatient rehabilitation program. We have ten centers across the St. Louis Metro area serving individuals recovering from a traumatic injury or illness who no longer require 24-hour nursing or acute rehabilitative care. We take a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach to build skills and maximize independence. Responsibilities
COTAs perform patient-related tasks assigned by the therapist, including but not limited to:
* Under the direct supervision of licensed OT, assists with the implementation of therapy plan of care in the Day Room Setting
* Responsible for delegation an direction of support personnel for those assigned patients, in order to enhance patient care services in the Day Room Setting
* Participates in education of patients, families, coworkers, and self
* Performs other professional duties associated with the care of the patient, within the scope of practice
* Assists patients to/from mats, wheelchairs, other equipment as appropriate; assist patients with transfer activities
* Assists with patient-related treatment activities as appropriate
* Engages with patients, supporting therapeutic goals in individual and group settings; Task initiation and group facilitation
* Documentation and billing/charging of skilled activities as applicable
* Upgrading and downgrading tasks for patient engagement
* Plans and transports for Community Reintegration Outings
* Maintains the clinic and clinic equipment in a clean and orderly condition
* Transports patients to /from therapy as needed
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
* Education: Associate's Degree in an OT Assistant program required
* Current and valid state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) required
* Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
* Class E license allowing for the operation of the shuttle bus prior to the start date.
Preferred Qualifications
* CPR certification
* First aid certification
* Prior experience in an outpatient physical therapy center
