Job Description Child Life Specialist – Children’s Hospital Location: Tulsa, OK Shift: Day Shift Starting Salary: $24.70/hour Relocation Assistance: $1,000 with a 1-year commitment, for candidates relocating from a 70+ mile radius Position Overview We are seeking a Child Life Specialist to join the healthcare team at a leading children’s hospital. This role focuses on supporting the emotional, developmental, and psychosocial needs of hospitalized children and their families through therapeutic and developmentally appropriate activities. Key Responsibilities Assess the individual needs of children and families and develop appropriate therapeutic activities. Help children cope with the hospital environment and medical experiences. Document assessments, observations, recommendations, and progress in the medical record. Orient and supervise volunteers involved in play and developmental activities. Participate in community, marketing, and public relations activities related to children’s health. Support research and evidence-based practices within the Child Life program. Maintain clinical and educational knowledge through professional development, conferences, workshops, and networking. Work collaboratively with patients, families, healthcare professionals, and hospital staff. Exercise independent judgment when addressing non-routine situations. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Child Life, Child Development, or a related field. Completion of a 600-hour Child Life internship or fellowship . Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) , OR ability to complete the certification requirements within 1 year of employment . 0–1 year of experience in child development/child life. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Alternative Qualification Candidates may also be considered if they have: 1 year of Child Life Specialist work experience , OR Completed 600 clinical/internship hours and are ready to take the CCLS examination. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a healthcare or hospital setting. Master’s-level preparation in Child Life Studies. Additional Benefits Eligible for clinical ladder opportunities .
