Registered Nurse - Stroke Telemetry Unit

Schedule: 07:00 AM - 07:00 PM

Assignment Duration: This is a 13-week contract position.

Job Description: The Stroke Telemetry Unit is a high-acuity, fast-paced medical-surgical environment specializing in the care of acute stroke and complex telemetry patients. This 34-bed unit is dedicated to delivering evidence-based, protocol-driven care with a strong focus on patient safety, rapid intervention, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities:

• Perform and document frequent neurological assessments, including NIH Stroke Scale.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms and respond to changes in real-time.
• Ensure compliance with stroke core measures, including dysphagia screening, education, and care plans.
• Administer medications using BCMA standards, focusing on safety and accuracy.
• Coordinate care with an interdisciplinary team consisting of providers, therapy, and case management.
• Manage admissions, discharges, and patient flow in a high-turnover environment.
• Maintain a constant focus on falls prevention, skin integrity, and patient safety.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Current state nursing license.
• ACLS and BLS certification.
• NIH certification.
• Ability to read basic rhythm strips prior to arriving at the facility.
