Better Magnets®(Design Studio 88 Inc.) | Phoenix, AZ (On-site) | Full-time, exempt 
Compensation: $70,000 base salary + up to $10,000 in annual performance bonuses

About Us
Better Magnets® is a Phoenix-based manufacturer of custom magnets and a nationally certified Women Owned Business (WBE/WOSB). We design and produce everything in-house. That includes custom and stock designs on our premium soft-touch matte souvenir magnets, made for attractions, gift shops, and high-volume national accounts. Our catalog includes thousands of original designs, and it grows every month.

About the Role
We need a hands-on design lead who is as comfortable on the production floor as in InDesign. You’ll own every file that goes to press, keep our design library organized, and make sure each order moves smoothly from customer proof to finished product. You’ll also train and support our graphic designers, keep our catalog and online stores current, and work directly with customers and the operations team.

What You’ll Do

Prepress & Production

• Preflight, optimize, and set up print-ready files for high-volume magnet production.
• Handle color separations (CMYK/Pantone), trapping, image cleanup, and proofing so finished products match exact standards.
• Manage quality control at every stage of an order, and troubleshoot print and layout issues in real time with the production floor.
• Work with operations management to hit completion dates and keep the handoff from design to production clean.

Design Library & Catalog

• Build and maintain our digital asset library and Monday.com workflows so every design file is organized, archived, and easy to find.
• Own the layout, updates, and proofing of our multi-page product catalog.
• Keep product listings, images, and pricing accurate across our Shopify eShop (BetterMagnets.com), our Faire wholesale storefront, and the Trading Magnets® website.

Customers & Team

• Guide customers through artwork, proofing, and ordering, and help answer our phone lines.
• Support relationships with distributors, sales reps, creative artists, and retailers.
• Train our graphic designers and monitor their day-to-day progress.
• Find ways to improve our processes, and help manage resources and budgets to meet company goals.

What You Bring

• 4+ years of professional graphic design experience, with a strong focus on print production, packaging, or manufacturing prepress.
• Expert command of Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, plus industry-standard preflight tools.
• Deep technical knowledge of bleed, registration, resolution, color profiles, and structural layouts.
• Proven experience organizing and maintaining large libraries of creative assets.
• Excellent customer service skills and comfort talking with clients by phone.
• Experience leading or training other designers.
• A plus: Shopify, Faire, Monday.com, or Data Merge experience.

Compensation, Schedule & Benefits

• $70,000 base salary
• A performance bonus program worth up to $10,000 per year. Bonuses are paid quarterly for file accuracy and online listings, with additional bonuses for catalog delivery, a 90-day on-boarding milestone, and annual company sales growth.
• Full-time, exempt position: Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m., on-site, with no weekends. Occasional extended hours around production deadlines.
• One week of paid vacation after the first year
• Paid holidays, plus a paid company closure from December 25 through January 3
• Health insurance and 401(k) are not offered at this time
