Student Engagement Coordinator Pitt Serves

The Office of PittServes within the Division of Student Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh serves as a catalyst for students and communities to engage in action that creates impactful change. The Student Engagement Coordinator will be joining a team working to realize the vision of achieving resilient and equitable communities and inspire civically minded individuals. The Office of PittServes focuses on engaging and educating Pitt students about civic action, with student leaders key to engaging their peers. Working with partners in the greater Pittsburgh community, as well as on-campus entities, current programs range from (but are not limited to) Pitt Impact Ambassadors, campus and community-based sustainability initiatives, Signature Days of Service, Alternative Break trips, PittVotes, the Pitt Civic Engagement Council, and other partnerships engaging students in community-identified projects. All employees within the Division will be asked to perform duties outside of their department. Additional assignments may include, but are not limited to Welcome Week Activities, Divisional committees, events, etc.

Skill requirements for this position:

• Event & Program Coordination: Strong organizational and project management skills to plan, coordinate, and execute student events, activities, and leadership-development programs, including facility, equipment, and logistics arrangements.
• Advising & Student Development: Ability to advise and mentor student organizations, governance groups, and clubs on program planning and decision-making, with knowledge of student development principles and group facilitation.
• Financial & Policy Oversight: Proficiency in basic accounting/budget reconciliation and a working knowledge of institutional policies (organization registration, solicitations, concessions) to monitor compliance and serve as a policy resource.
• Communication & Marketing: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for creating promotional materials, publicizing events, and building community/media relationships to enhance university visibility.
• Interpersonal Flexibility & Availability: Strong interpersonal skills to engage diverse students, faculty, and staff, paired with willingness to work evenings/weekends to attend student-sponsored meetings and events.
