Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a relevant specialty License: Active Registered Nurse License Certifications: - ACLS - BLS - TCAR/TNCC Must-Have: - Charge Experience: 1 year - Experience with Cerner charting system Description: High-level PCU RNs or ICU RNs are needed. The role will support a newly opened PCU, with anticipated ICU patients. The nurse will care for medical/surgical, telemetry, PCU, and/or critical care patients. There may be a requirement to float to these areas if census is low. Patient ratios are 6:1 for medical/surgical and telemetry; 2:1 for critical care. Travelers must be willing to obtain TNCC/TCAR within 30 days of starting. Skills required include accessing and managing ports, arterial line management, and care of ventilated patients. The position also requires knowledge of blood product administration and chest tube management. Interpretation of arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias is essential. Nurses must be familiar with isolation precautions, IV insulin protocols, and care of tracheostomy patients. Additional responsibilities include managing central lines, PICC lines, and performing sheath removal. Experience with continuous bedside monitoring and arterial lines is preferred. The patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Daily census is expected to be 8, with a universal suite design for flexible patient care. Interdisciplinary support will be available from various services, including therapy and pharmacy. Patient diagnoses may include atrial fibrillation, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease exacerbations, and renal failure. This role includes floating requirements based on census and patient needs.
