JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE Assists with patient admissions, outpatients, and inpatients for the Emergency Department, and other clinical areas as needed. Responsible for clerical duties associated with patient care and assists with patient care (newborn to geriatric) as directed by the Emergency Department Manager, Medical Director, and unit delegates. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The Emergency Department provides care for patients with a wide variety of needs from non‑critical to emergent medical conditions, including emergent and urgent mental health care. All patients are welcome whether walking in or arriving by emergency transport. Staff are certified to care for critical cardiac and trauma patients, including children. EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent preferred. One (1) of the following required: Six (6) months related experience. Current unencumbered Oregon EMT, AEMT, or EMT‑I. Healthcare Provider BLS required upon hire. Experience or training in computer applications required. Previous ED experience preferred. KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES Time Management: Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work to meet required time frames and follow up on pending issues. Able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment. Social Perceptiveness: Ability to work with a diverse population from pediatrics to geriatrics, with sensitivity to the needs and experiences of others. Communication: Effective written and oral communication skills to explain complex issues, exchange information between team members, and discuss matters tactfully. Adaptability / Flexibility: Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to situations that may arise with high‑risk or diverse patient populations and adjust actions to offer best possible care.
