Title
Med/Surg-Telemetry Registered Nurse (Travel)

Schedule
Shift: 12-hour nights; 36- or 48-hour options accepted

Assignment Details
Assignment Length: 13-26 weeks
Patient Ratio: 1:5-6

Requirements
- Minimum 2 years recent RN experience
- Accepts first-time travelers
- Previous charge experience preferred
- Patient-ratio experience at 5-6 preferred
- NC or Compact license pending acceptable for submittal
- Required certification: BCLS (Basic Life Support)
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Core clinical skills:
- Med/Surg and Telemetry care, telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition
- IV therapy: start/maintain IVs, peripheral/PICC/central line care, central line blood draws, heparin, IV insulin protocols
- Respiratory: HFNC, CPAP/BiPAP, non-invasive airway management, trach care, suctioning, oxygen delivery
- Tubes/drains: feeding tube care, colostomy care, chest tube management, surgical drains
- Procedures: blood product administration, pre/post hemodialysis management, phlebotomy, wound care/Wound VAC
- Preferred: Epic charting experience, on-unit telemetry monitoring, ABG interpretation

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a medical/surgical telemetry unit.
- Monitor and interpret telemetry data, recognizing any dysrhythmias.
- Administer medications and therapies as prescribed, including IV therapy and blood products.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.
- Conduct assessments and document patient progress accurately in the electronic health record.
- Provide education and support to patients and families regarding health conditions and treatment plans.

Compliance / Notes
- Orientation: 24-hour unit orientation; hospital orientation week one (must attend daily classes)
- RTO rules: Up to 7 days max; all RTO must be pre-approved; no RTO during the first week; must work 2 of 3 major holidays; RTO cannot be worked out onsite; call-offs/additional RTO may result in cancellation.
