We are seeking a highly engaged, proactive, and culturally attuned Community Outreach Liaison to represent and expand Touro University's presence throughout the Five Towns and surrounding South Shore communities. The ideal candidate possesses deep familiarity with the distinct dynamics of the Five Towns Jewish ecosystem—including local shuls, yeshivas, community centers, rabbinical leadership, and local businesses. In this role, you will serve as the face of our organization: building strategic partnerships, coordinating impactful community events, driving brand awareness, and fostering relationships across diverse segments of the local Jewish community.

Responsibilities

Community Engagement & Relationship Building

• Local Partnership Development: Build and nurture strong, ongoing relationships with rabbis, shul administrators, local school leaders (yeshivas, day schools, and high schools), local merchants, and community leaders across the Five Towns.
• Brand Representation: Serve as the primary point of contact and representative for Touro at local communal gatherings, parlor meetings, shul events, and neighborhood initiatives.
• Coalition & Networking: Collaborate with local chesed organizations, community councils, and communal coalitions to align initiatives and cross-promote programs.

Event Planning & Execution

• End-to-End Event Management: Plan, organize, and execute community-wide events, including parlor meetings, holiday programs, educational lectures, charity drives, and youth/family events.
• Logistics & Coordination: Manage all event logistics within the Five Towns (vendor selection, venue booking at local halls or shuls, kashrus compliance, scheduling around the Jewish calendar, marketing, and volunteer management).
• On-Site Coordination: Oversee event set-up, vendor management, guest registration, and post-event follow-up to ensure seamless execution and high attendee engagement.

Organization Promotion & Marketing

• Local Outreach Strategy: Develop and execute tailored outreach campaigns designed specifically for Five Towns residents and institutions.
• Collateral Distribution: Coordinate the distribution of marketing materials (flyers, brochures, digital announcements) across local synagogues, community centers, kosher supermarkets, and local media channels.
• Digital & Local Media Engagement: Collaborate with internal marketing teams to craft targeted local print ads (e.g., local Jewish weeklies), WhatsApp community broadcasts, and social media outreach tailored to the Five Towns demographic.

Program Development & Feedback

• Community Needs Assessment: Gather insights and feedback from residents and community leaders to identify unmet needs and tailor programs to better serve the community.
• Data & Tracking: Maintain updated records of community contacts, event participation, donor leads, and partnership outcomes using our CRM system.
• Provide monthly reports to the Executive Vice President and Board Representative

Qualifications

Education/Experience

• 2–4 years of experience in community outreach, event planning, public relations, or non-profit administration.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Cultural Competency: Strong understanding of the Orthodox and broader Jewish community structures, customs, calendar, and nuances within the Far Rockaway, Five Towns and Greater Long Island area.
• Communication: Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; public speaking experience is a plus.
• Event Planning Skills: Demonstrated success in planning and executing events from concept to completion.
• Network: Pre-existing network or familiarity with Five Towns institutions, synagogues, and key figures is strongly preferred.
• Schedule Flexibility: Ability to work occasional evenings, Sundays, and flexible hours around community events and calendar demands (no Shabbos/Yom Tov responsibilities).
• Transportation: Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for local travel between the Five Towns, Rockaways, and surrounding areas.
• Technical: Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser's Edge), email marketing tools, and event management platforms.
• Kashrus & Halachic Awareness: Thorough understanding of local kashrus standards and communal practices necessary for hosting events.
• Soft Skills: Warm, approachable personality with high emotional intelligence, active listening skills, and the ability to connect naturally with diverse personalities.
