Technical Manager (L6)

Technical Manager (L6)MasterCard is seeking a highly skilled Technical Manager (L6) with strong technical proficiency and leadership capabilities. This role will manage a team of engineers while being hands-on with backend development, API design, and cloud-native applications. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, SQL, and AWS, with additional exposure to modern frontend technologies.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and mentor a team of developers, driving technical excellence and delivery of high-quality solutions.Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java JDK 8, Spring Boot, and Hibernate/JPA.Build and integrate RESTful and SOAP APIs, ensuring robust and secure connectivity.Manage distributed systems with expertise in multithreading, message queuing, and design patterns.Oversee database design and development using SQL Server or other relational databases.Ensure high code quality with JUnit and automated unit testing frameworks.Monitor and troubleshoot applications using Splunk or equivalent tools.Contribute to CI/CD pipelines with Git, GitHub, Jenkins, and automation tools.Collaborate across teams to deliver solutions in AWS and other cloud-native environments.Support frontend initiatives leveraging ReactJS, Redux, and TypeScript (preferred).Required Skills & Qualifications10+ years of software development experience with increasing responsibility.Proven expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security, Hibernate/JPA, REST APIs, and SQL.Strong knowledge of multithreading, distributed systems, and design patterns.Experience in CI/CD pipelines, Git, Jenkins, and DevOps practices.Hands-on experience with cloud-native development (AWS, Cloud Foundry, etc.).Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and leadership skills.Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.Preferred QualificationsExperience with frontend frameworks such as ReactJS, Redux, and TypeScript.Familiarity with monitoring/alerting tools such as Splunk.Previous experience in financial services or payments domain.Why Join?Opportunity to lead critical projects for a global leader in payments.Hybrid work flexibility in Arlington, VA.Competitive pay structure – contract or full-time options.High-impact leadership role with technical and strategic influence.
