Registered Nurse Operating Room

The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room provides specialized perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. This role involves patient assessment, preparation, intraoperative care, and collaboration with the surgical team to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes. The nurse is expected to maintain high clinical standards, communicate effectively, and adapt to the dynamic environment of a Magnet-designated acute hospital with Level II trauma services. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care in the Operating Room setting, including patient preparation and intraoperative monitoring.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other team members to ensure patient safety and optimal surgical outcomes.
• Perform clinical assessments and participate in treatment planning related to surgical interventions.
• Administer medications and manage patient care documentation using Epic electronic health records.
• Float within scope to similar units as needed to meet facility demands.
• Participate in on-call coverage limited to call-offs only.
• Comply with hospital policies and maintain sterile and safe operating environments.

• Current Alaska Registered Nurse license with license in hand prior to assignment.
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, preferably in perioperative or acute care settings.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, trauma-level hospital environment.
• Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) credential.

• On-call coverage is required but limited to covering call-offs only.
• Floating to like units may be necessary to meet facility needs.
• Time off requests are approved individually upon offer and must be included in initial submittal.
• Must be willing to work in a Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma acute hospital environment.

• Assignment length is 13 weeks starting ASAP.
• Shifts are either 3 twelve-hour day shifts or 4 ten-hour day shifts per week.
• Shift start times vary between 06:45 19:15 or 09:00 21:30.
• Guaranteed 60 hours per two weeks, with possible call-off for one 12-hour shift every two weeks.
