Dover Precision Components is hiring a Quality Control Engineer for our Bearings Plus brand. The Quality Control Engineer supports the quality assurance and control activities required for the repair, replacement, reverse engineering, manufacture, and upgrade of fluid-film bearings and sealing products used in critical rotating equipment. This position reviews customer and engineering requirements, develops and executes inspection activities, evaluates product and process conformity, controls nonconforming material, and maintains accurate quality, calibration and traceability records. The Quality Control Engineer works closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Customer Service, and customers to ensure work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, approved repair instructions, and Quality Management System requirements. The position also analyzes quality-performance data, supports root-cause investigations and corrective actions, and identifies opportunities to reduce defects, rework, customer risk, and cost of poor quality.

Responsibilities include:

Product and Process Quality

• Carry out inspection of products for customer order releases, purchased part releases, and customer returned products.
• Perform or coordinate dimensional and visual inspections of fluid-film bearings, bearing components, seals, and related machined products.
• Identify inspection, documentation, traceability, certification, and hold-point requirements before work begins.
• Develop or maintain inspection plans for receiving, in-process, final, and post-repair verification activities.
• Verify critical product characteristics, including dimensions, tolerances, fits, clearances, surface condition, finish, alignment, and assembly requirements.
• Verify that inspection and test results are complete, accurate, traceable, and acceptable before product release.
• Support first-article, source, customer-witness, and final inspections when required.
• Coordinate required material, coating, babbitt-bond, or nondestructive examination records, as applicable.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives.

Nonconformance and Corrective Action

• Initiate and maintain nonconformance records for product, material, documentation, or process deviations.
• Place affected product on quality hold and coordinate immediate containment when requirements are not met, within assigned authority.
• Support Material Review Board activities and ensure dispositions receive the required technical and quality approvals.
• Participate in root-cause investigations using structured problem-solving methods such as 5 Why, fishbone analysis, A3, or 8D.
• Coordinate corrective actions with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and other responsible functions.
• Verify corrective-action completion and evaluate effectiveness before closure.
• Support investigation and resolution of customer complaints, returns, and warranty-related quality issues.

Quality Management System

• Maintain inspection records, certificates, nonconformance documentation, corrective-action evidence, and product traceability records.
• Support internal, customer, and certification audits.
• Monitor compliance with approved procedures, work instructions, inspection plans, and customer requirements.
• Support and document the calibration and control of inspection, measuring, and test equipment.
• Identify expired, damaged, or unsuitable measuring equipment and prevent its unintended use.
• Assist with the development and revision of inspection instructions, quality procedures, control plans, forms, and acceptance criteria.
• Train or coach production and inspection personnel on quality requirements and inspection methods within the analyst's area of competence.
• Help to prepare for ISO audits.

Quality Data and Continuous Improvement

• Collect and analyze data related to nonconformances, scrap, rework, customer complaints, supplier issues, and cost of poor quality.
• Prepare quality reports and communicate significant trends, recurring defects, and product risks to management.
• Support improvement activities intended to reduce variation, rework, turnaround time, and customer risk.
• Participate in cross-functional process reviews and improvement projects.
• Escalate quality risks promptly when product conformity, customer requirements, or delivery commitments may be affected.

Customer and Supplier Quality

• Support customer inspections, quality-documentation reviews, and technical discussions.
• Communicates quality concerns professionally and factually to internal and external stakeholders.
• Review supplier quality documentation and assist with supplier corrective-action requests when required.
• Participate in supplier or customer visits based on business needs.

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality, manufacturing, industrial technology, or a related technical discipline; an associate degree combined with significant relevant experience may be considered.
• Two or more years of quality-control, inspection, or manufacturing-quality experience in a precision machining, bearing, turbomachinery, repair, or similarly engineered-product environment.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances, and technical requirements.
• Extensive experience in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Experience using precision dimensional inspection equipment.
• Experience documenting nonconformances and supporting root-cause analysis and corrective action.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic quality or manufacturing systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to organize multiple priorities in a fast-paced, customer-responsive manufacturing environment.

Also Great If You Bring/Preferences

• Experience with fluid-film bearings, babbitted components, seals, or rotating equipment.
• Experience in a repair, reverse-engineering, or low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment.
• Experience with coordinate measuring machines and inspection software.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality-management requirements.
• Training or certification in GD&T, internal auditing, root-cause analysis, or quality inspection.
• ASQ certification such as Certified Quality Inspector, Certified Quality Technician, or Certified Quality Engineer.
• Familiarity with ERP, electronic QMS, calibration-management, and data-analysis systems.
