Job Description:
This position is a leadership role in providing exceptional patient care within the Operating Room environment, utilizing the Nursing Process in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. The RN - OR effectively delegates, directs, and assists licensed and ancillary team members to ensure quality patient outcomes. Candidates must demonstrate cultural sensitivity, maintain professionalism, and contribute to the achievement of departmental goals and objectives. Responsibilities include assessing patient needs, implementing appropriate nursing interventions, and supporting a multidisciplinary team. Experience in surgical nursing and familiarity with OR protocols is preferred.


Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality perioperative patient care using the Nursing Process
• Assess patient condition and plan individualized care
• Communicate effectively with surgical teams and patients' families
• Supervise and delegate tasks appropriately to OR team members
• Maintain compliance with safety, regulatory, and infection control standards
• Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
• Support department initiatives to improve patient satisfaction and team morale
• Stay current with OR best practices, policies, and federal/state regulations

Qualifications:

• Required Education: Registered Nurse Diploma
• Preferred Education: Associate's or Bachelor's in Nursing
• Experience: Prior perioperative or surgical experience preferred; experience with confidential information in a fast-paced environment
• Certifications: Current RN License in practice state, BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, good judgment, interpersonal skills, delegation abilities, basic computer skills

Physical & Environmental Demands:
The role involves heavy work exerting up to 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, with exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissues. Protective measures and adherence to safety protocols are essential due to occupational risks in healthcare settings.
