Resident Care Director

POSITION TITLE: Resident Care Director DEPARTMENT: Nursing Administration REPORTS TO: Executive Director POSITION SUMMARY: The essential functions of the job for the Resident Care Director requires, and may be amended from time to time at the sole discretion of Viva Senior Living to include, but are not limited to the following: Must possess a valid RMA certification or LPN/RN license, in good standing in accordance with the laws of this state, from an approved State School of Nursing. A minimum of one (1) year of full-time or equivalent clinical experience is required. Comply with standards of business conduct in accordance with federal, state and local health and regulatory standards and guidelines, as applicable. You must manage the department budget. Must possess, at a minimum, a high school diploma or a GED Must be able to work well with peers in a congenial work environment, and above all, maintain the utmost compassion and dignity to the residents and adhere to the Resident Bill of Rights. In exigent circumstances, the employee may be subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, temporary staffing shortages, etc.) Must adhere to Viva Senior Living’s attendance policies and follow the terms and conditions of employment as set forth in the Employee Handbook. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Must maintain the highest standards in caring for and servicing the needs of the residents and residents' family members and loved ones. Must adhere to all facility policies and procedures. Responsibilities/Accountabilities Models a business philosophy that treats every resident and family member as a personal customer. Responsible for the retention of residents in the community. Ensures provision of services to the residents and ensures that all Federal and State policies governing resident care are closely monitored and carried out. Ensure all Viva Senior Living clinical policies are followed, including assessments, service plans, resident care, medication management, and infection control. Interview, hire, evaluate, motivate, and monitor the performance of the care staff in the community. Recruitment and selection should focus on qualified candidates who model our core values with an interest in care. Ensure the completion of assessments on all residents, as required by Viva Senior Living policies and state requirements. Coordinate departmental schedules and ensure adequate staffing in accordance with company standards, policies, procedures, budgets, and state law. Oversees training programs for direct care staff in the community, as regulated by Federal and State licensing requirements. Conducts orientation for new team members of the department to ensure that all employees know their goals, policies, and procedures. Conduct continual interviews/observations of residents to alert Executive Director, family, and other appropriate individuals of any changes in the resident's physical or emotional health. Supports administration in referral development and maintaining a high census, act as care manager and resource person for the residents and their families. Measures outcomes, set goals and leads the care team to achieve those outcome goals Performs all job responsibilities in accordance with prescribed safety and infection control procedures, including thorough handwashing, use of disposable gloves where indicated and proper disposal of soiled materials. Also providing care that maintains each resident's skin integrity to prevent pressure ulcers, skin tears and other damage by changing incontinent residents, turning, repositioning immobile residents and by applying moisturizers to fragile skin and other areas. Performs various tasks assigned by the charge nurse, including checking vital signs, weighing residents, applying creams/ointments, and collecting specimens. Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights. Report any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and or hazardous chemicals in accordance with facility policy. Report any work-related injuries and illnesses immediately to your supervisor. As a condition of employment, complete all assigned training and skills competency. Participate in all life safety and emergency drills and training. Fulfill responsibilities as assigned during implementation or activation of the facility’s emergency plan. Assists with evacuation of residents in an emergency Maintain confidentiality of Protected Health Information, including verbal, written and electronic communications. Report non-compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, or breaches of confidentiality to appropriate personnel. Protect residents from abuse and cooperate with all investigations. Report any allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation of property, exploitation, or mistreatment of residents to supervisor and/or administrator. Report any retaliation or discrimination to the Human Resource Director and the Compliance Officer. Fulfill individual responsibility to report any suspicion of a crime to law enforcement and the state agency. Performs other duties as requested.
