About the Role

The Company is seeking an Associate General Counsel with a focus on privacy to take on a pivotal role in owning and leading its global privacy legal function. The successful candidate will be the principal legal advisor on domestic and international privacy and data protection matters, including a range of complex issues such as GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA/CPRA, and other relevant laws. This is a build role, requiring the development and implementation of a comprehensive privacy program that can scale with the business. The role involves close collaboration with business, security, and engineering teams to ensure that privacy is integrated into the company's operations and that the program meets evolving regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong legal background, with at least 7-10 years' experience, including both law firm and in-house experience at a high-growth B2B SaaS company, and a deep understanding of global privacy laws and regulatory frameworks. Key responsibilities for the Associate General Counsel, Privacy, at the company include advising on privacy and data protection laws, managing the data subject request process, conducting privacy risk assessments, and overseeing the privacy program's enhancement and maturity. The role also involves partnering with security and GRC functions, supporting commercial contracting, and serving as a legal expert in privacy matters for product and engineering decisions. The candidate should have excellent judgment, strong business orientation, and the ability to translate legal issues into practical advice. Experience in advising on security matters and a background in technical privacy issues, including AI and machine learning, is highly preferred.
