Reporting to the Assistant Director of Engagement and Prevention, the Prevention Specialist is responsible for the implementation of research-based and effective primary prevention programs and initiatives focused on interpersonal violence (sexual assault, relationship abuse, stalking, and sexual harassment) for UNH-Durham undergraduate and graduate students. The Prevention Specialist facilitates a wide range of prevention programs on topics including consent, bystander intervention, and healthy relationships for both general student audiences and specific student groups and populations such as student leaders, Fraternity and Sorority Life, and student athletes. The Prevention Specialist also supervises and manages the education & engagement student employees and volunteers. The Prevention Specialist also contributes to the advocacy drop-in rotation within the SHARPP Center, providing direct services to individuals impacted by interpersonal violence as needed.This position requires self-scheduled evening and weekend commitments throughout the year.Duties/ResponsibilitiesPrevention & Engagement Education (70%)Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Engagement and Prevention, serve as the main Prevention and Engagement facilitator for the UNH-Durham campus, including:Delivering remote and in-person prevention and engagement programming to undergraduate and graduate student audiencesFacilitating the SHARPP Center’s primary prevention programming on topics such as consent, bystander intervention, and healthy relationshipsFacilitating SHARPP Center outreach and engagement programming, such as SHARPP 101 and SHARPP JeopardySupporting prevention and engagement programming on the UNH Manchester and UNH Franklin Pierce School of Law campuses as neededManage the coordination of program requests, including outreach to campus partners, scheduling, and logisticsServe as a member of the SHARPP Center Prevention & Engagement team:Assist the Assistant Director of Engagement and Prevention with the planning, organizing, and facilitating of engagement efforts, awareness campaigns, and special events as neededProvide input on outreach and engagement materials, such as brochures and resource pamphletsContribute to the overall vision of Prevention and Engagement for the SHARPP Center through attendance at Prevention & Engagement Team meetings, vision setting, and goal planning activitiesMaintain awareness of trends, research and best practices in IPV prevention education, including through professional development opportunities and peer-reviewed research, and ensure that the SHARPP Center’s prevention offerings and learning outcomes are aligned with best practiceCollect and submit program data related to prevention & engagement initiatives as required by grant fundingAttend NHCADSV Prevention Educator monthly meetings to represent the SHARPP Center and receive relevant updates and information regarding expectations for data, reporting, and compliance under relevant grants and program standardsAssist with updating and submitting the SHARPP Center Rape Prevention Education (RPE) grant worksheets as required by the NHCADSVSupervision & Volunteer Management (20%)Supervise 1-2 SHARPP Center Education and Engagement undergraduate, part-time student employeesWith the support of the Assistant Director of Engagement and Prevention, recruit, train, onboard, & manage the pool of 20-30 Community Educator student volunteersPlan & co-facilitate the annual “SHARPP Center Leaders Institute” training summit for new Community EducatorsSupport coordination of annual volunteer appreciation & recognition eventsConfidential Advocacy (10%)Provide remote and in-person advocacy to UNH students, faculty and staff who have experienced interpersonal violence as neededParticipate in the SHARPP Center advocacy coverage rotation, responding to drop-ins, helpline calls, and appointmentsProvide accompaniment, transportation, and support for survivors undergoing university disciplinary processes, sexual assault forensic exams, court appearances, and police interviews as needed by clientsParticipate in biweekly SHARPP Center case review team meetings led by the Assistant Director of AdvocacyCollect and track data related to direct services provided per grant requirementsAssist the Assistant Director of Advocacy and Survivor Advocate with the training of volunteer Peer Advocates as neededRequirementsMinimum Acceptable Education & Experience:Bachelor’s degree2-4 years professional experience working on interpersonal violence prevention or related experience with primary prevention, public health, education, training and curriculum, and/or workshop facilitationRequired Licenses & Certifications:Confidentiality under NH RSA 173:C (30+ hours of training by a New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence crisis center) or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire (training can be provided by the SHARPP Center)Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Experience with delivering trainings or facilitating workshops; ability to comfortably educate audiences of various sizes and demographics around complex topicsAbility to work autonomously and in a self-directed capacity; Strong attention to detail, time management skills, and follow-throughWorking knowledge of consent, bystander intervention, and interpersonal violence prevention theories and approachesAbility to balance multiple projects and priorities while maintaining a positive outlook and working effectively in a collaborative environment.Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, especially PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and OutlookOther Requirements:Successful completion of background check and motor vehicle records check requiredAbility to work self-scheduled nights and weekends as needed to fulfill program requests for student audiencesPreferred Qualifications:Master’s degree, preferably in public health, public policy, education, human services, social work, gender studies, recreation administration, or another related fieldIn-depth knowledge of interpersonal violence, Title IX, Clery Act, primary prevention strategies, the socio-ecological model of public health, and/or power-conscious frameworksExperience working in a college/university settingExperience with curriculum development and/or instructional designExperience designing and updating Learning Management System content (Canvas or equivalent)Experience supervising or managing students and/or volunteersApplicant Instructions:Applicants should be prepared to upload the following documents when applying online within the My Experience: Resume/CV section of the application: (Maximum of 5 Documents)Resume/CVCover LetterApplications that are missing any of the required items may not move forward for consideration.
