A high-volume, high-pressure aluminum die casting plant in the Cedarburg, Wisconsin area is hiring a Senior Die Cast Changeover Technician for its 2nd shift. The ISO-certified facility produces castings for tier-one OEM customers. This role leads complete die changes on cold-chamber die casting machines, sets process parameters, and troubleshoots hydraulic, pneumatic, and automation systems to get cells back into production quickly. This is a direct-hire position.

Schedule

Full-time, 2nd shift, on-site in the Cedarburg, WI area.

Compensation

Up to $41.00 per hour, based on experience, plus pay-for-performance bonus opportunities.

What You'll Do

You will perform complete die changes and tooling setups on high-pressure cold-chamber aluminum die casting machines and their automation. Using overhead cranes and forklifts, you will rig, align, and install dies, trim tools, shot-end components, plunger systems, and cooling and lubrication lines. You will follow lockout/tagout, crane safety, and molten metal handling procedures on every setup and teardown.

Once the tooling is in, you will set and fine-tune machine parameters, including melt temperatures, hydraulic pressures, shot speeds, intensification rates, and cycle timing. Before production sign-off, you will check the hydraulic, pneumatic, water and cooling, and automated spray and ladle systems. You will then work with Quality and Production to run first pieces and complete first-piece approval against the setup sheet.

During startup and production, you will diagnose and fix setup, machine, and casting issues to hold cycle times and reduce scrap. You will also look for ways to shorten changeover time.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Hands-on setup or changeover experience in high-pressure die casting, plastic injection molding, stamping, or heavy industrial manufacturing
• Mechanical troubleshooting skills with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Ability to read and follow process setup sheets
• Experience safely operating overhead bridge cranes, forklifts, and rigging equipment
• Working knowledge of lockout/tagout procedures
• Ability to work 2nd shift
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

• Cold-chamber aluminum die casting setup experience
• Experience with automated robotic cells, such as ABB or FANUC
• Experience identifying and resolving porosity, cold shuts, soldering, and flash
• Experience with SMED, 5S, or other changeover reduction methods
• Forklift or overhead crane certification
• Technical or vocational training in a mechanical or manufacturing field
