Principal Consultant - Oil and Gas Industry Sector

Role Overview

As a Principal Consultant, you will play a significant role in growing our Gulf Coast base of oil and gas clients and our team of environmental and sustainability professionals in Texas and Louisiana. You will lead consulting projects for key oil and gas clients, expand our industry business, mentor rising talent, and foster a culture of growth and excellence.

Responsibilities

• Apply extensive environmental, regulatory, and technical knowledge of the oil and gas industry to design and deliver effective environmental management, permitting and compliance services to upstream, midstream, and downstream clients.
• Be client‑facing and leverage deep expertise to effectively advance client strategies and cultivate new relationships.
• Develop effective marketing strategies and sales tactics that lead to increased oil and gas business.
• Cultivate long‑term client satisfaction, retention, and loyalty.
• Develop successful approaches to identify new opportunities and create winning value propositions and proposals.
• Provide clear, concise business‑focused findings, recommendations, and options regarding client documentation.
• Contribute to a high‑performing team that values collaboration and takes pride in the quality of service delivered.
• Maintain a positive, can‑do attitude to thrive in this environment.
• Develop, track, and document sales, project expectations, and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor and/or Master of Science degree(s) in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• 15‑20 years of experience providing successful environmental management, permitting, and compliance consulting services to the oil and gas sector, including leading complex, multi‑stakeholder projects.
• Strong experience in consulting, client relationship management, and business development.
• Experience delivering environmental management, permitting, and compliance support covering air, water, waste, pollution control, resource conservation, environmental modeling, monitoring, toxic chemical control, and related issues.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. and state environmental regulations and permitting requirements applicable to the Gulf Coast oil and gas industry.
• Established reputation in the industry with credibility through regulatory engagement, client relationships, published work, conference participation, or industry association involvement.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and inspire technical teams.
• Excellent communication and people skills, including negotiation, facilitation, and executive‑level presentation.
• Strong written communication skills for proposal/report writing and technical and marketing presentations.
• Professional designation with an appropriate professional organization.

Salary and Benefits

Salary range: $175,000 – $225,000. Final agreed upon compensation will be commensurate with education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location.
