Registered Nurse-PRN

The Registered Nurse (RN) / Health Services Coordinator provides comprehensive medical oversight, consultation, and coordination for all children served by Houston Strong Children Services. This position ensures full compliance with Texas Minimum Standards, TC3 requirements, DFPS/SSCC contract expectations, and STAR Health clinical guidelines. The RN promotes trauma-informed and TBRI-aligned approaches to healthcare delivery across all service packages, including Transitional Living and services for Pregnant & Parenting Youth. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Review medical records, health assessments, documentation, and follow-up care for all children in placement. Coordinate medical appointments, well-child visits, immunizations, screenings, and all necessary specialty care. Educate caregivers, youth, and staff on health conditions, medication administration, infection control practices, and proper documentation procedures. Provide trauma-informed and TBRI-consistent guidance to support children’s health needs in ways that promote felt safety, emotional regulation, and trust-based caregiving. Ensure Pregnant & Parenting Youth receive adequate prenatal, postpartum, and pediatric care coordination, including support for related health services. Assist Transitional Living youth in understanding and managing their own healthcare needs, medications, self-advocacy, and navigating the medical system. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas. Strong knowledge of pediatric and adolescent health, including trauma-related medical concerns. Ability to clearly explain medical information to non-medical caregivers, staff, and youth. Understanding of trauma-informed care, TBRI principles, and child welfare environments preferred. Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills. Education and Experience Requirements Graduate of an accredited nursing program with an active, unrestricted Texas RN license. Experience in pediatric nursing, community health, or child welfare-related nursing preferred. Experience working with high-needs youth, trauma histories, or multidisciplinary care teams is a plus. #J-18808-Ljbffr Houston Strong
