Unit Size: 24 beds

Minimum Experience: 2 years of Med/Surg experience required

First-Time Travelers: Accepted

Patient Population

Orthopedic patients (total hip & knee replacements, spinal surgeries)

General Med/Surg cases including:

• CHF
• COPD
• Respiratory conditions
• Kidney, liver, and GI disorders

Patient Ratios

Days/Eves: 1:45

Nights: 1:5

Required Certifications

Active RN License

BLS (Required)

NIHSS (Preferred)

Clinical Skills Required

Peripheral IV starts

Wound care and dressing changes

Wound VAC management

Drain and chest tube care

Stable trach management

Experience with BiPAP/CPAP patients

Drips:

• Insulin
• Heparin

Support Staff

CNA: 1:510 depending on shift (vitals, blood glucose checks, IV removals)

Charge Nurse: Modified patient assignment

HUC: Available on days and part-time evenings

Phlebotomy: Handles peripheral lab draws

Respiratory Therapy: 24/7

Hospitalist: 24/7

Therapies: OT/PT/ST available weekdays

EMR: EPIC (preferred experience)

IV Pumps: Alaris

Medication Dispensing: Pyxis

Floating

Travelers may float within scope of practice to:

• MS1
• Cardiac MS2
• ED Holding

Orientation

New Employee Orientation (NEO)

12 unit shifts (12 hours each)

Travelers may be scheduled for up to 3 holidays during the contract depending on timing, including: Thanksgiving Eve, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Memorial Day
