Site Reliability Engineer (Associate / Intermediate / Senior) Site Reliability Engineer Associate (SRE) is responsible for assisting to ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of TRS Information Technology Infrastructure. The incumbent assists in managing a complex application and infrastructure environment that includes Windows and Linux servers, Microsoft Active Directory, and cloud-based infrastructure such as Microsoft 365. This position works closely with IT staff and agency employees. Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) is responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of communication infrastructure systems and cybersecurity systems, as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, and for managing a complex application and infrastructure environment that includes Windows and Linux servers, Microsoft Active Directory, and cloud-based infrastructure such as Microsoft 365. This position works closely with IT staff and agency employees. Site Reliability Engineer Senior (SRE) is responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our Information Technology Infrastructure, maintaining the security and integrity of communication infrastructure systems and cybersecurity systems, and overseeing the management of a complex application and infrastructure environment that includes Windows and Linux servers, Microsoft Active Directory, and cloud-based infrastructure such as Microsoft 365. This position works closely with IT staff and agency employees. Responsibilities Site Reliability Engineer Associate Responsibilities Use infrastructure‑as‑code, primarily PowerShell, to automate processes and integrations across various technologies. Work closely with cross‑functional teams to design, implement, maintain, and monitor IT infrastructure. Provide support for infrastructure‑related tasks focusing on Microsoft Active Directory, Windows and Linux server administration, and Microsoft 365. Apply source control, continuous integration and delivery, and configuration management processes and tools. Analyze and diagnose infrastructure problems. Assist in evaluating future information technology requirements and develop long‑range, comprehensive infrastructure planning and roadmaps. Support the installation, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of the IT infrastructure. Collaborate with cross‑functional IT teams and agency staff to establish and sustain scalable, reliable, and high‑performing systems, ensure infrastructure security, and consult with teams to identify necessary tasks for supporting project initiatives. Monitor applications and systems for compliance with licensing agreements and system availability. Participate in planning, organizing, coordinating, and/or special projects. Research developments in the site reliability engineering field including emerging technologies and trends, and recommend processes and tools to continuously improve procedures and deliver business value. May be required to be available for on‑call duty or scheduled for after‑hours work. Perform related work as assigned. Demonstrate expertise in utilizing source control, continuous integration and delivery, and configuration management processes and tools. Demonstrate expertise in analyzing and diagnosing infrastructure problems proficiently. Lead the assessment of future information technology requirements and contribute to developing long‑range, comprehensive infrastructure planning and roadmaps. Assist in the installation, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of the IT infrastructure. Lead collaboration with cross‑functional IT teams and agency staff to establish and sustain scalable, reliable, and high‑performing systems, ensure infrastructure security, and consult with teams to identify necessary tasks for supporting project initiatives. Monitor applications and systems to ensure compliance with licensing agreements and system availability. Lead planning, organization, coordination, and implementation of special projects. Research and stay informed about advancements in the site reliability engineering field including emerging technologies and trends, and recommend processes and tools to continuously improve procedures and deliver business value. May be required to be available for on‑call duty or scheduled for after‑hours work. Perform related work as assigned. Qualifications Required Education Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, computer science, IT or a closely related field. High school diploma or equivalent and additional full‑time work experience in information systems, computer operations, programming, database development, or a similarly related technical experience may be substituted on an equivalent year‑for‑year basis. Required Experience Site Reliability Engineer Associate: One (1) year of full‑time experience in site reliability engineering or similarly related experience. Site Reliability Engineer and Site Reliability Engineer Senior: Three (3) – Five (5) years of full‑time directly related, progressively responsible experience in site reliability engineering or similarly related experience. Proven ability to develop, maintain, and use automated processes and tools to provide reliable IT infrastructure. Experience may be concurrent. Preferred Qualifications Working knowledge of automation engineering using PowerShell. Working knowledge of Microsoft 365. Experience with DevOps, Agile, ITIL methodologies and practices. Experience collaborating with business, development, and operational teams to support Agile project delivery. Possession of one or more of the following certifications: Microsoft 365 Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, Fundamentals, Messaging Administrator Associate, or Information Protection Associate. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of core infrastructure principles, practices, and techniques for supporting the IT infrastructure stack using automation and monitoring. Knowledge of Microsoft Enterprise technologies such as Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Windows Server, Exchange Online, and PowerShell. Knowledge of current hardware and software architectures, network protocols, and security best practices. Knowledge of infrastructure‑as‑code principles and techniques. Skills in analyzing problems and devising effective solutions. Skills in communicating complex technical information to people of varying technical backgrounds. Skills in planning, organizing, and coordinating work to effectively meet frequent and/or multiple deadlines, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and manage conflicting priorities and demands. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with co‑workers, agency staff, and external contacts.
