MICU Registered Nurse (ICU RN)

Contract | Nights | Expected 36–48 hours/week | Every Other Weekend (EOW)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 20-bed Medical/Surgical ICU serving a wide range of adult patients including those with Substance Abuse/Overdose, severe Psychiatric conditions, DKA, Sepsis, GI Bleed, Respiratory Failure, Cardiac Arrest, Renal Failure, and Cardiogenic Shock
• Maintain a 1:2 or 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio in the ICU, adjusting to 1:4 or 1:5 when floating to Medical/Surgical units
• Float to Medical/Surgical units as needed, managing up to 4–5 patients per assignment
• Read and interpret telemetry strips as required for both ICU and float assignments
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently using EPIC EMR
• Collaborate with attending physicians and residents who are present in the ICU 24 hours/day

Required Qualifications

• Active Massachusetts RN License required
• AHA BLS certification required
• AHA ACLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of continuous adult MICU experience required
• Telemetry competency required; must be able to read telemetry strips
• Must be available to float to Medical/Surgical units as needed

Preferred Experience / Skills

• 2+ years of continuous experience in a single MICU setting preferred
• Prior experience in a Level III Trauma Center or large community hospital environment
• Familiarity with high-acuity diagnoses including Sepsis, Cardiogenic Shock, and Respiratory Failure
