This role focuses on installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical power distribution, lighting, and control systems within a facility. The Electrician ensures that all electrical work meets safety standards and code requirements while supporting production controls, automation components, and building infrastructure. The position requires hands-on work with a wide range of electrical equipment, from power supply wiring and conduit to motor controls and low-voltage systems.

Responsibilities

• Install and connect power supply wiring and conduit for lighting, general devices, newly installed machines, and building equipment.
• Troubleshoot and support production controls and automation components to minimize downtime and ensure reliable operation.
• Diagnose malfunctioning electrical apparatus such as transformers, motors, motor starters, MCC panels, MCC circuits, variable frequency drives, and lighting fixtures.
• Repair and replace damaged parts, broken wires, cables, and connections to restore safe and effective operation of electrical systems.
• Maintain electrical distribution equipment including 3 phase 4 wire 277/480 VAC, 3 phase 4 wire 120/208 VAC, and single phase 3 wire 120/240 VAC systems.
• Replace faulty electronic components such as printed circuit boards, relays, contactors, and control buttons.
• Perform maintenance on building lighting, task lighting, parking lot lighting, lighting contactors, emergency lights and exit lights, 120-volt outlets, and photoelectric eyes for exterior building lighting.
• Maintain and service lighting contactors that are controlled by the energy management system.
• Plan the layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings as part of preventative maintenance tasks for electrical utilities and equipment rated at 480 volts or less.
• Complete accurate and timely paperwork related to all essential duties and responsibilities.
• Maintain, organize, and clean the shop area and/or service van, including inventory control, tool maintenance, and calibration of testing equipment.
• Follow applicable electrical codes, safety regulations, and standard practices while performing all work.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support facility operations and maintenance.

• Strong practical experience installing and connecting power supply wiring and conduit for lighting, general devices, machinery, and building equipment.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and supporting production controls and automation components.
• Ability to diagnose and repair malfunctioning electrical apparatus including transformers, motors, motor starters, MCC panels, MCC circuits, variable frequency drives, and lighting fixtures.
• Hands-on knowledge of maintaining electrical distribution systems for 3 phase 4 wire 277/480 VAC, 3 phase 4 wire 120/208 VAC, and single phase 3 wire 120/240 VAC.
• Skill in replacing faulty electronic components such as printed circuit boards, relays, contactors, and control buttons.
• Experience maintaining building lighting systems, task lighting, parking lot lighting, emergency and exit lights, 120-volt outlets, photoelectric eyes, and lighting contactors.
• Ability to plan wiring layouts and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings as part of preventative maintenance on electrical utilities and equipment up to 480 volts.
• Capability to complete accurate and timely documentation related to work performed.
• Organizational skills to maintain a clean and efficient shop area and/or service van, including inventory and tool management.
• Basic skills and knowledge of motor controls and logic control systems.
• Familiarity with low-voltage systems, fire alarm systems, and voice and data systems.
• Commitment to using guidelines from the National Electrical Code, local codes, safety regulations, and standard practices for quality control.

• Experience working with facility electrical distribution systems and automation systems.
• Background in electronics and lighting systems maintenance and repair.
• Ability to interpret and apply electrical codes and safety regulations in day-to-day work.
• Comfort working with energy management systems and associated lighting contactors.
• Attention to detail in maintaining tools, testing equipment calibration, and inventory control.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently on complex electrical issues.

Work Environment

This role is based in a facility environment that includes production areas, building infrastructure, and outdoor spaces such as parking lots. Work involves hands-on tasks with electrical distribution systems up to 480 volts, lighting systems, automation components, low-voltage systems, fire alarm systems, and voice and data systems. The position requires regular use of tools and testing equipment, with responsibility for their maintenance and calibration. You will work both in shop areas and from a service van, maintaining an organized and clean workspace with effective inventory control. Hours and shifts may vary based on operational needs, and work can include both indoor and outdoor conditions, requiring appropriate attire suitable for electrical and maintenance tasks.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mobile, AL.

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.
