Responsibilities

• Essential Functions
• Assess the physical and psychosocial status of patients by means of interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic studies.
• Recognize deviations from normal in the physical assessment; work collaboratively to formulate treatment plans.
• Implement appropriate management based on laboratory results, physical assessment, routine diagnostic and follow-up studies, therapeutic measures, admission and discharge care in accordance with written practice protocols.
• Initiate appropriate actions to facilitate the implementation of therapeutic plans that are consistent with the continuing healthcare needs of patients.
• Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
• Demonstrate caring practices by providing a compassionate and therapeutic environment for patients and their families.
• Demonstrate awareness of legal issues and patients' rights.
• Identify, analyze, and resolve patient care issues to foster significant improvement in patient care.
• Dictate and document accurately and timely.
• Maintain provision of preventive health services.
• Conduct or participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds.
• Perform detailed history and physical examinations and document inpatient H & P and discharge summaries (Must be reviewed and countersigned by supervising medical staff member within 24 hours and may not be substituted for physician H & P).
• Write or dictate reports and progress notes appropriately in the medical record.
• Triage patients.

Qualifications

• Experience - Outpatient GI Experience Required
• Education/Training MN or MSN or DNP or PhD or DNS degree in nursing required or Graduate of accredited physician assistant program.
• Licensure/Certification Maintain current physician assistant licensure or Florida ARNP License in State of Florida. If a Physician Assistant : Maintains NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants). If a Nurse Practitioner : Maintains national advanced certification from an approved nursing specialty board. Maintains BLS certification. Maintains ACLS, NRP, PALS certification as required by department.
