Overview Salary: Depends on Qualifications Location: 133 James Sprunt Drive, Kenansville, NC Job Type: Part-Time Temporary Job Number: EXVP-PT-3 Division: Curriculum Department: Arts & Sciences Opening Date: 04/08/2024 Closing Date: Continuous Plan, prepare for, and teach assigned courses, evaluate student progress and provide academic advising, maintain necessary records, submit institutional reports, assist in departmental and institutional planning, serve on college committees, and perform other job‑related duties on a part‑time basis. The work is performed under the supervision of the Dean of Arts and Sciences. Responsibilities Meet and hold classes as scheduled Provide assistance to students and refer them to other college staff when necessary Prepare, implement, and evaluate student learning outcome–based course outlines based upon program outcomes Keep current on subject matter and teaching methodologies Maintain student records and monitor student progress Complete and submit institutional reports on a timely basis Provide input and participate in the College's Planning Process Maintain required office hours each week Recruit students and implement retention strategies Participate/assist with coordination of specific program/course management Implement the College's Academic Advising System Serve as advisor to selected student organizations and/or associations Serve as liaison between college, student, public, community and business/industry in area of professional expertise Continuously analyze and evaluate instructional results to improve instruction and evaluation of student progress Provide students and college with written course expectations as defined by the college including general course information, course objectives, methods used in evaluation of students, grading policy, attendance policy, textbooks, etc. Provide supervisor with copy of all course SLOs and SLO assessments Provide supervisor with copy of all current course syllabi Assist with connecting program learning outcomes to institutional competencies Conduct ongoing self‑evaluations to improve instructional techniques and methodologies Assist in implementing the College's Program Review process and recommendations Write or assist in writing grants as appropriate to instructional area Promote a positive image of the college Engage in a program of professional development and community service Acquire computer/technology competencies as appropriate to position Assist with equipment and software maintenance Maintain security of personal computer access Perform other professional or job‑related duties as assigned Serve on college committees Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Proficiently operate a computer and related software. Use active listening skills. Be proactive, anticipate problems, and try to solve them independently. Be organized, with a flexible attitude. Be a team player. Demonstrate integrity (honesty, trustworthiness, high moral values). Maintain confidentiality at all times. Maintain a professional demeanor in a fast‑paced environment. Skill in managing executive calendars. Skill in organizing, planning, and coordinating meetings and travel arrangements. Proven knowledge and skill in the use of advanced features of Microsoft Word and Excel. Show initiative and self‑direction and communicate professionally across a variety of constituent groups. Demonstrate ability to concurrently address issues of various levels of complexity. Education and/or Experience Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the requisite knowledge, skill and abilities. Education/Skills Required: Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in Psychology or a Master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in a qualifying field and good communication skills. Preferred: Master's degree in Psychology. Bilingual. Experience Preferred: Some teaching experience at the community college level; some experience with instructional delivery via distance learning. Physical Demands The employee is regularly required to sit; frequently to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; occasionally stand and walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision and ability to focus. May require travel.
