Registered Nurse RN Emergency Department FT

Position Summary We are seeking a full‑time Emergency Nurse for the 27‑bed Emergency Department at Banner Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming. The role involves caring for patients in a Stroke, STEMI, and Trauma Level II Center, with opportunities to work in forensic nursing, behavioral health, pediatric emergency nursing, and trauma certification. Shift pattern: varied, 3‑12 hours, 2:00pm to 2:00am, rotating weekends and holidays. Core Functions Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs; review history; monitor diagnostic and laboratory data; report abnormal results to physicians. Formulate individualized plans of care, including discharge plans, based on assessment data and multidisciplinary input; set realistic, measurable goals; revise plans as patient status changes. Implement plans of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the healthcare team; provide nursing supervision, delegate appropriately and ensure compliance with policies and regulations. Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; revise plans of care accordingly; evaluate progress toward goals. Document assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record; maintain legible, timely, objective/subjective data and nursing interventions. Provide evidence‑based care; participate in research activities, unit leadership, education, orientation, precepting and mentoring. Contribute to quality improvement, national nursing quality indicators, and professional organization participation. In some roles, supervise staff and workflow of the department. Interact with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, external contacts, and clergy to provide spiritual support. Minimum Qualifications Current, valid RN license in Wyoming, temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure for Wyoming. BLS certification required. One year of acute‑care, physician practice, or acute‑care RN experience in the past 12 months. Experience in the specific specialty area desired. Maintenance of clinical performance competencies through annual validations. For home‑health or behavioral health roles, appropriate driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and fingerprint clearance cards as specified. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Professional certification in Emergency, Pediatric, Trauma, or related specialty. Additional education or experience relevant to emergency nursing.
