Description

American Traveler is seeking an Outpatient RN for a Blood Marrow Collection Program in Washington, DC, requiring IV skills and prior travel assignment experience.

Details

• Outpatient setting within a Blood Marrow Collection Program at a cancer center
• Medical Surgical unit covering a maternity leave of absence
• 30-week assignment length
• Day shift schedule with 4x10-hour shifts, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Oncology and infusion clinic specialties
• Performs IV starts, medication administration, intravenous and subcutaneous infusions

Requirements

• Active DC RN license required
• BLS certification required; ACLS and OCN preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience within the last 7 years
• At least 1 previous travel assignment required
• Cerner charting system experience required
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in starting IVs on adult patients
• Experience with patient assessment, vital signs, and health history intake
• Skilled in patient teaching and universal precautions

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include chart preparation, office duties, and patient health questionnaires
• May involve pharmacy calls, patient refill requests, and telephone triage
• Follow-up phone calls with patients may be required
• Must reside within a 60-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel rate
• Local candidates accepted at a lower rate
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per 13-week contract period
• Previous MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
