Mobile Clinic Clinician

Mobile Clinic Clinician

Under the general supervision of the Associate VP of Grants and Community Engagement, the Mobile Clinic Clinician will respond on-site to crisis calls that cannot be resolved by the Access & Crisis Helpline telephonically in Wayne County. The Mobile Clinic Clinician will utilize the best crisis intervention practices in behavioral health, prevention and post-intervention crisis services, education, crisis stabilization services, short-term treatment, and follow up services until an individual is connected to an ongoing service provider.

Principle duties and responsibilities include:

  • Performing mobile crisis services in the community, including crisis intervention and de-escalation for individuals of all ages.
  • Providing direct clinical, short-term and solution-focused counseling and services.
  • Problem solving and resolving conflict utilizing motivational interviewing and other communication tools and techniques.
  • Coordinating with the Crisis Traffic Coordinator via text or cell phone before reaching and entering the destination and upon leaving for safety and to be redeployed.
  • Utilizing Crisis Theory to provide crisis counseling to people to facilitate immediate stabilization of emotions and behavior.
  • Providing direct and indirect services involving intensive case-management services including plan development, placement services, assistance in daily living, individual and/or group counseling, and crisis intervention.
  • Documenting all crisis intervention activities ensuring timely and complete case documentation following DWIHN policies and procedures for accuracy of records and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintaining clinical documentation that is accurate and up to date, including assessments, progress notes, crisis/safety plans, and other required documentation.
  • Referring individuals to the appropriate service provider to support clinical psychosocial evaluations in a timely manner through in-office, telehealth, or telephone visits.
  • Clinical services may also be provided at community-based locations including schools, homeless shelters, and home-based services when appropriate.
  • Developing and implementing person-centered treatment plans for clients based upon clients' areas of need, diagnoses, and symptoms.
  • Maintaining multi-disciplinary working relationships with clinicians and other related professionals in the community.
  • Making appropriate referrals and providing clinically appropriate multi-disciplinary interventions and collaborations.
  • Providing coordination and follow-up for clients to additional behavioral health and community resources.
  • Engaging and educating families about developing natural supports to increase individual and community success.
  • Participating in community meetings, agency and system staff meetings.
  • Collaborating with schools, law enforcement and other organizations.
  • Performing related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) include:

  • Knowledge of DWIHN policies, procedures and practices.
  • Knowledge of the DWIHN provider network and community resources.
  • Knowledge of the Michigan Mental Health Code.
  • Knowledge of the clinical care process (screening, assessment, treatment planning, case management, and continuing care).
  • Knowledge of and ability to use screening and assessment tools for behavioral health services.
  • Knowledge and experience in current behavioral management and de-escalation techniques in a safe, calm, and caring manner.
  • Knowledge of the Federal Confidentiality Regulations, 42 CFR, Part 2.
  • Knowledge of community mental health services and resources.
  • Knowledge of severe mental health, physical health, and substance abuse issues and symptoms.

Required education:

A Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Human Services, the Social Services, or a related field.

Required experience:

Three (3) years of full-time paid professional clinical experience working in crisis services or a closely related area.

Required license:

A Valid State of Michigan clinical licensure: RN, LMSW, LMHC, LPC, LLP or PhD. (A limited license will be accepted).

A Valid State of Michigan Driver's License with a safe and acceptable driving record.

Preferred experience/certifications in one of the following:

  • CAADC Certified Advanced Addiction Drug Counselor
  • CAC-R Certified Addiction Counselor
  • IC&RC Reciprocal CCDP Certified Co-occurring Disorder Professional
  • CCDP-D Certified Co-occurring Disorder Professional Diplomat
  • Experience providing crisis intervention services.
  • Experience with a broad range of age groups and disabilities, including children.
  • Experience with persons with co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorder.

Working conditions:

Employees in this classification must travel throughout Wayne County. Candidates will be required to travel to homes, community-based settings, hospitals, schools, courts, etc.

Full-time shifts available: Monday – Sunday, 8am-4pm, 4 pm -12 am, 12am-8am.
