About This Role

First Steps Children Learning Center is seeking a reliable, experienced, and dedicated Part-Time Daycare Teacher for our early morning shift.

The primary responsibility of this position is to open the childcare center promptly at 5:00 AM, Monday through Friday, provide attentive supervision to children arriving during early morning hours, and assist with breakfast and morning routines.

We are looking for someone who is highly dependable, punctual, comfortable working independently, and passionate about providing a safe and nurturing environment for young children.

This position offers approximately 20 hours per week, with opportunities for additional hours to assist with classroom coverage based on staffing and program needs.

• Open the childcare center promptly at 5:00 AM, Monday through Friday.
• Supervise and care for children during early morning hours, ensuring their safety and well-being.
• Maintain a calm, safe, and nurturing environment.
• Assist children with basic care needs and morning routines.
• Help with breakfast preparation, serving, and cleanup.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized childcare environment.
• Communicate effectively with parents and other staff members.
• Assist with classroom activities and provide classroom coverage when needed.
• Follow all center policies, safety procedures, and Virginia childcare licensing requirements.

• Previous experience working in a daycare, preschool, or licensed childcare setting required.
• Must be consistently available to start work at 5:00 AM, Monday through Friday.
• Excellent attendance, punctuality, and reliability are essential.
• Must be comfortable working independently and supervising young children.
• Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate care practices.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
• Ability to assist in different classrooms when needed.
• Must meet Virginia childcare licensing requirements and successfully complete all required background checks.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, starting at 5:00 AM

Expected Hours: Approximately 20 hours per week, with additional hours available based on center needs.
