Position Overview The Biology Department is seeking part‑time instructor positions with expertise in Microbiology and Bacteriology. Candidates may teach introductory, intermediate, and advanced courses. Adjunct faculty will be committed to teaching and working with our multicultural student population, teaching courses as needed at the undergraduate/graduate level. Classes are in‑person specialty courses for students majoring in Biology, Health Sciences, and Nursing. Required Qualifications Master’s degree in a biological science. Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate instruction and to mentoring students. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching introductory biology and advanced courses including microbiology lecture and laboratory. Experience with nontraditional students and with an ethnically diverse student population. Compensation and Benefits Rate per credit hour: $1122 (lab) – $1548 (lecture). There are no fringe benefits for this position. Application Requirements Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without employer sponsorship. Appointment is contingent upon receipt of an acceptable background screening conducted once selected. Upon hire, a transcript of the highest degree earned is required. Union eligibility: Adjuncts may join the RIC/AFT Adjunct Union after completing 6 load hours (excludes applied music) in the two previous consecutive years. Payment is processed once a month, with applicable taxes withheld. Writing sample, teaching evaluations, and/or letters of recommendation are not required at the time of application and are required only if requested directly by the department chair.
