Dental AssistantLindhurst Dental - Olivehurst, CA 95961Job DescriptionGENERAL PURPOSE:The Dental Assistant (DA) is under the supervision of the RDA Lead, the DA instructs patient in oral hygiene and dental education and assists Dentist and Registered Dental Hygienist.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Assists patients calling and visiting clinicSeats and dismisses patientsCoordinates patients and proceduresKeeps patient flow steadyInstructs patients on oral hygienePreview patients chart in EDRMay remove the:Post-extraction and periodontal dressingsSuturesMay take the:Impressions for diagnostic and opposing modelsMay apply the:Non-aerosol and non-caustic topical agentsTopical fluoride after scaling and polishing by the supervising Dentist or Registered Dental HygienistMay perform pulp testCures restorative materials in operative site with light curing deviceChairside assistingTakes, scan and transfer digital x-raysSterilizing and setting up:Sets up all patient roomsSterilizing instruments and patients areaKeeps cabinets clean and sterileMaintains dental equipmentOrders supplies when assigned this taskKeeps operatories stocked and sterileComplies with OSHA regulationsMaintains professional growth by attending all meetings and in-servicesParticipates in CQI activities and staff meetingsTreats all clients, staff and the community with respect and courtesyUtilizes effective means to resolve conflictUtilizes effective verbal and written communication skillsFlexibility to work at other Ampla Health sites as neededOther duties as assigned by supervisorQUALITIES & CHARACTERISTICSMaintains a professional relationship and positive attitude with co-workers, the public, patients and all Ampla Health's staff, Board of Directors and vendorsMaintains the highest professional ethics and is honest in dealing with people; is a model for all employees through his/her actionsStrive to learn more and is receptive to learning different methods of doing thingsDisplays enthusiasm toward the work and the missions of Ampla HealthMaintains excellent attendance and punctualityAbility to navigate through several different systemsMaintains a professional appearance at all timesReadily adapts to changePROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIESMust have a High School DiplomaCurrent CPR cardDA certificateSome dental assisting experience preferredDemonstrate clear knowledge of Ampla Health's clinic structure, standards, procedures and protocolsCOMMUNICATIONS SKILLSMust have neat and legible handwritingMust be able to interact with patients courteously and calmlyAbility to communicate well with the publicDemonstrate active and focused listening skillsMust be able to type accurately with proper verbiage and grammarWORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSWorks well with patients in a generally comfortable environment office.
