Salary Range : $60,000–$80,000 annually. Pay is based on numerous factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

***This position will begin as a full-time remote position. Once the facility is opened, the position will be full-time and ON-SITE in Surprise, Arizona***

POSITION SUMMARY INFORMATION: DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS

Job Summary : The Facility Training Instructor is responsible for the coordination, delivery, documentation, and evaluation of employee training programs at a detention facility. Reporting to the Health Services Administrator (HSA) and working collaboratively with facility leadership, including the Facility Health Program Manager (FHPM), the Facility Training Instructor supports initial orientation, annual training requirements, competency-based education, regulatory compliance training, corrective action training, and ongoing professional development for healthcare and multidisciplinary staff. The incumbent ensures training activities align with contract requirements, detention standards, accreditation standards, organizational policies, and applicable federal regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Coordinate and deliver classroom, virtual, and hands-on training programs for facility personnel.
• Support the FHPM in implementing facility-wide training and staff development initiatives.
• Conduct new employee orientation and onboarding training for healthcare personnel.
• Schedule, facilitate, and document annual mandatory training requirements.
• Assist with competency assessments and skills validation activities for clinical and non-clinical healthcare staff.
• Maintain training records, attendance rosters, course completion documentation, and competency files.
• Monitor staff compliance with required training and certification requirements.
• Develop, update, and maintain lesson plans, training materials, presentations, job aids, and educational resources.
• Coordinate training activities related to applicable detention standards, organizational policies, infection prevention, safety, emergency preparedness, quality improvement, and healthcare operations.
• Assist in preparing staff for audits, accreditation surveys, contract compliance reviews, and operational inspections.
• Conduct remedial and corrective action training as directed by facility leadership.
• Collaborate with department managers to identify training needs and performance improvement opportunities.
• Track and report training metrics, completion rates, competency outcomes, and educational activities.
• Provide support for drills, exercises, emergency response training, and continuity of operations training.
• Utilize learning management systems and electronic tracking tools to monitor training compliance.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to staff education and competency development.
• Maintain confidentiality of employee information and training records.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

• Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional methods.
• Strong presentation, facilitation, and public speaking skills.
• Ability to effectively train adult learners with varying levels of experience.
• Knowledge of healthcare operations, correctional healthcare, detention environments, or institutional settings.
• Ability to organize multiple training initiatives and meet deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Teams.
• Ability to develop reports, training documentation, and educational materials.
• Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of National Detention standards, NCCHC standards, ACA standards, or correctional healthcare practices preferred.

Minimum Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Public Health, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Minimum three years of experience in training, education, staff development, healthcare operations, correctional operations, or a related environment.
• Experience conducting classroom instruction and developing training materials.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and learning management systems.
• Ability to obtain facility clearance and meet all contractual requirements.

Preferred Qualifications :

• Experience working in correctional healthcare, detention operations, law enforcement, or government contracting.
• Instructor certifications such as BLS Instructor, First Aid Instructor, CPI Instructor, or other adult education certifications preferred
• Experience supporting accreditation, compliance, or regulatory training programs.
• Knowledge of National Detention Standards (NDS/PBNDS), NCCHC, ACA, or Joint Commission standards.
• Experience with competency-based training and employee onboarding programs.

Physical Requirements :

• Ability to stand for extended periods while conducting training.
• Ability to travel throughout the facility to deliver instruction and monitor activities.
• Ability to lift training supplies and equipment up to 50-100 pounds.
