STEAM Facilitator (Part-time)

STEAM FacilitatorResource Area for Teaching (RAFT) is seeking a part-time STEAM Facilitator to help deliver hands-on, engaging learning experiences through our Maker Mobile program, STEAM Nights, and community events. This is a dynamic, people-centered role ideal for someone who enjoys working with youth, leading interactive activities, and contributing to a mission-driven team that inspires curiosity and discovery.Enjoy a flexible, part-time schedule (up to 16 hours per week) with hours that vary based on program needs, including school-day, afterschool, evening, and occasional weekend events. This role is grant-funded, with continuation dependent on funding availability.At RAFT, we believe learning should spark curiosity, creativity, and joy. Through project kits, Maker Mobile events, educator workshops, and student programs, RAFT brings STEAM learning to life in meaningful and engaging ways.What You'll DoSupport and facilitate hands-on STEAM activities for students (TK–8) at schools and community sitesLead activity stations or portions of events as neededEngage students in creative problem-solving, engineering, and science challengesSupport STEAM Nights, workshops, and family engagement eventsAdapt facilitation style to meet diverse learning needsAssist with event setup, breakdown, and materials organizationLoad, transport, and organize program materials (including Maker Mobile support if assigned)Collaborate with the Education Team to improve activities and deliveryHelp maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environmentWhat Is RequiredExperience working with youth (education, camps, afterschool programs, etc.)Strong facilitation and group engagement skillsAbility to explain basic science and engineering concepts in a simple, engaging wayComfortable leading or supporting hands-on, interactive activitiesStrong communication and teamwork skillsReliability and flexibility in an event-based environmentWhat You BringExperience with STEAM or maker-based learningFamiliarity with project-based learning or NGSSExperience with community or family engagement eventsSpanish language skillsComfort using basic tools (e.g., hot glue guns, simple hand tools)If you're energized by hands-on learning, working directly with students, and making a real impact in the community, this role offers a meaningful way to contribute.
