Job Description - New River Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education operating under a state-wide system of 23 community colleges. The college is located on a one hundred plus acre site at the intersection of U.S. Routes 11 and 100 in Dublin, Virginia with an instructional site in Christiansburg. The campus provides modern, well-equipped facilities for the career technical education programs as well as for the college transfer programs. Approximately 4,000 students comprise the student body. The people employed by New River Community College embrace the philosophy that all individuals should have an opportunity to develop and extend their skills and knowledge to increase awareness of their roles and duties as citizens. The college serves the educational needs of the public and assumes a duty to help provide the requirements for trained workers in the region through a combined effort with local industry, business, professions, and government. Duties: Manage office functions for the division of health professions so matters are handled in a professional, efficient, and timely manner. Maintain strategic documents and course plan files for the division. Maintain and monitor budgets for all departmental accounts in the division. Maintain health profession student files. Assist the health professions clinical coordinator with duties as needed. Assist division faculty with instructional needs, such as book order submissions, securing desk copies and supplies, etc. and monitor faculty completion of various surveys and submission of final grades. Coordinate procurement for items requested by faculty and staff. Collaborate with division faculty and dean in the development of class schedules. Assist in credentialing for the division. Assist in the planning and coordination of division events. Serve as a liaison to college personnel regarding scheduling and use of facilities. Assist with other administrative tasks as assigned by the dean.
Special Assignments - May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications - Demonstrated knowledge of general office practices and procedures. Work experience in an office setting. Excellent organizational skills, oral and written communication skills, and computer skills. Ability to work well with others in a professional manner. Flexibility and ability to meet deadlines while working effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills. Advanced proficiency with most current versions of Microsoft applications.
Additional Considerations - Work experience in a team-oriented, health professions, higher education setting. Knowledge and/or experience with PeopleSoft Student Information System (SIS) or other comparable systems. Previous experience with healthcare clinical coordinator activities.
