Nursing Faculty (Tenure Track)

In order to work as a Registered Nurse, students must possess a Washington State Nursing License. The Nursing program at Everett Community College meets the state education requirements for an associate degree nursing license (ADN) in the state of Washington. This license is granted to students who complete the Everett Community College Nursing program and pass the NCLEX exam. This position teaches courses within the Nursing program in various classroom, clinical, and laboratory settings. Title: Nursing Faculty (Tenure Track) Salary: $82,421-$86,542 Department: Nursing Reports To: Associate Dean of Nursing and Allied Health Position Number: 00012173 This position is eligible for hybrid work location, per Everett Community College’s Telework Policy. *Additional compensation may be available for courses that meet high wage / high demand requirements. Teaching Foster an equitable, anti‑racist, and culturally inclusive learning environment and demonstrate an awareness of the experiences and needs of the current student population. Develop curriculum, prepare, modify and deliver teaching/learning activities designed to maximize student learning and foster inclusive excellence. Teach courses in accordance with the course record, course syllabus, approved student learning objectives, and quarterly course schedules. Design and/or deliver course assignments, learning activities and assessments that enable students to meet the course’s stated learning outcomes. Develop a current course syllabus using the College’s inclusive syllabus template and submit it to the Instruction Office prior to the start of the quarter. At the course level, assess student work using appropriate methodologies that promote further learning; at the department or program level; at the program or department level, disaggregate, review and assess student learning outcomes with the goal of continuous improvement and reduction of opportunity gaps. Complete summative evaluations of student work during the College’s scheduled finals week; submit final grades by the designated deadline. Create and maintain department and student records in accordance with college policies and procedures. Refer students to college services, community agencies and other professionals as appropriate. Conduct program/transfer advising as detailed below. Establish, post, and maintain regularly scheduled office hours for consultation with students. Program Advising Full‑time faculty will be responsible for advising a caseload of currently enrolled students. Participate at least once annually in professional development to maintain and update advising skills. Participate in quarterly Advising cross‑training per quarter as requested by the Dean/Supervisor. Provide Program Advising as assigned for students in all areas in which the faculty member has been cross‑trained. Proactively contact all assigned students each contractual quarter. Participate in advisee student support networks. Active use of institutionally sanctioned advising platform(s) as appropriate for scheduling, record‑keeping, degree planning, and communicating with advisees with ongoing development, training and support provided by the college. Faculty Program Advisors will support students in developing the following skills: Transfer and career planning. Building, modifying, and adhering to a degree plan. Identifying and adhering to institutional deadlines. Accessing essential resources on campus. Accessing technological resources that will assist them in monitoring their program blocks, graduation and transfer requirements. Identifying and overcoming barriers to academic success. Continuation of Professional Standards Stay current in relevant best practices, emerging topics, and research, especially those related to the mission, vision, and values of the college. Maintain certification and/or licensure required by the College in the performance of the faculty member’s assignment. Participation in College Priorities Contribute to EvCC’s mission, vision and values and to the priorities and objectives articulated in Charting a Path Toward Equity: EvCC Strategic Plan 2022‑2027. Attend and participate in: The first two days of annual opening week activities held in the Fall quarter. Department and division meetings. Training activities as mandated by state and federal law. Professional development program mandated by Washington Senate Bill 5227. The annual commencement ceremony in June. Serve on committees. Reassigned Time The leadership of the College has the right to assign faculty duties to faculty members. Faculty may be assigned non‑faculty duties including, but not limited to, administrative functions, leadership of college initiatives, or other specially assigned duties. Required Education and Experience Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution. Evidence of acute, long‑term, and/or ambulatory care nursing practice within the last three years, as a registered nurse. Current licensure to practice as a registered nurse in Washington state. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Understanding of evidence‑based practice and the ability to apply it to teaching and decision‑making in nursing. Knowledge of or willingness to learn how to structure and develop a nursing curriculum, including lesson plans, assessments, and learning objectives. Knowledge of innovations and industry standards in nursing. Ability to analyze complex situations, apply critical thinking skills, and make sound clinical judgments. Collaborate and coordinate with clinical faculty and community partners. Assess student learning and provide constructive feedback through various methods. Connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and cultures by engaging with students on a personal level, understanding their unique challenges, and offering meaningful support and guidance. Communicate effectively and respectfully in verbal and written formats. Understand and navigate complex systems. Adapt to changing circumstances, new technologies, and evolving healthcare trends, and apply to teaching strategies. Contribute to the evaluation of the nursing program curriculum. Proficient with the Nursing Process and effectively applying it in educational and teaching settings. Preferred Evidence of experience with teaching nurses using both high and low fidelity simulation is strongly recommended. Documented successful classroom and clinical teaching experience in nursing at the post‑secondary education level or in another setting is strongly recommended. Physical Requirements Ability to operate office equipment, including computers, printers, and telecommunication devices. Ability to observe, analyze, and interpret data from various sources. Ability to prepare and present detailed reports, both in written and audible formats. Ability to exchange information on the phone, through video conferencing, or in person. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while performing routine tasks. Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Terms of Employment Full‑time position, September through June, days/times vary by courses taught. FLSA overtime exempt. Position is subject to Everett Community College policies and procedures. Represented by American Federation of Teachers (AFT) Collective Bargaining Agreement.
