Senior Financial Accountant

The Senior Financial Accountant, this position will play a key role in the financial accounting, reporting, budgeting, and analysis for the Ziegenfelder company. The selected individual will be a highly motivated, results oriented professional who is an innovative thinker. The applicant must have strong analytical, problem resolution, and collaboration skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and communicate effectively.This role, supported by a strong Finance & Accounting Tribe, will assist in developing and driving a proactive, collaborative partnership among the leadership team, driving constructive and engaging conversations, monitoring stakeholder feedback, and identifying trends and opportunities to advance Ziegenfelder’s overall business & mission.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSPrepares, reviews, and posts journal entries in accordance with generally accepted accounting principlesSupport the monthly close and reporting process, along with providing analytical analysis and decision support.Reviews accounting records and transactions for accuracy, adequacy of supporting documentation, and compliance with company policyParticipates in the timely preparation, review, and distribution of monthly quarterly, and annual financial statements including, but not limited to, income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, local management reports, cost allocation reports, and capital expenditures reportingDevelops and prepares relevant, meaningful and comprehensive management reports which provide comparisons to budget and historical trendsActively supports the financial audit processSupervise and train entry and mid-level accounting staff.Prepare journal entries, reconcile, and balance general ledger accounts, research and correct posting discrepancies and provide accounting support for our internal customers.Evaluate manual and automated financial accounting work processes, systems, and procedures for efficiency of workflow,Lead various process reviews and improvement initiatives as well as develop or improve internal controls surrounding the key risks within them.Lead routine assessment of cost allocations to ensure accuracy and relevance given existing business conditions and practices.Drive alignment and consistency within the business areas including, Sales, Operations, Engineering, Marketing and P&C. Partner with understanding needs and providing tools and processes they can leverage.Performs other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related fieldFive to seven years of progressive accounting experienceAdvanced knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Ability to work in a rigorous environment where priorities can change quickly; strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet required deadlinesAbility to partner cross functionally, through strong relationship building, influencing, negotiating and communication skills, with all levels of management.Skilled with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint), as well as experienced with budgeting, financial reporting and general ledger software applications.High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.Maintain strict confidentiality of information and exhibit a high level of professional ethics and integrity.Must work well under pressure and meet required deadlinesSound independent judgment.Demonstrates good interpersonal skills along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.PREFERENCESExperience in manufacturing environmentExperience setting up, managing, reconciling EDI (electronic interchange transactions)Experience in Public Accounting firmMBA with a concentration in Business, Accounting, or Finance or CPAStrong communication and interpersonal skillsStrong technical, data, and reporting skillsAbility to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environmentExperience with Microsoft Business Central, PowerBI, Excel Forecasting ModelsM&A experience preferred, CapEx modeling, scenario planningLOCATIONThis position is located in Wheeling, West VirginiaWho We AreThe Armstrong Group is a family owned and operated collection of diverse companies.
