Sr Tech Field Engineer

Location: Syracuse, NY — Onsite/Field-Based
Contract: subject to extension or conversion to perm
Schedule: 40 hours/wk

Note: DRIVING POSITION with MILEAGE REIMBURSEMENT

Job Summary

We are seeking a Sr Tech Field Engineer to provide onsite/field computer hardware support throughout the Syracuse metro area and surrounding locations. This position will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing laptops, desktops, and related computer peripherals.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to assigned service requests for laptop and desktop repairs .
• Perform hardware repairs and replacements, including hard drives, motherboards, keyboards, and other components .
• Perform whole-unit computer swaps when needed.
• Repair or replace PC peripherals and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot basic hardware and software issues.
• Travel throughout the Syracuse metro area and surrounding locations to complete service requests.
• Update and close service tickets in real time using the company-provided phone and call management system.
• Provide professional and courteous customer service while completing field assignments.

Required Qualifications

• 1+ year of hands-on experience with laptop and desktop break-fix/repair.
• Strong working knowledge of computer hardware and basic software troubleshooting .
• General knowledge of Windows/Microsoft applications .
• Ability to diagnose and resolve basic, non-complex technical issues.
• Must have your own reliable vehicle and valid car insurance.
• Ability and willingness to travel throughout the Syracuse metro area and surrounding locations.
• Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills.
• Ability to document work and close service tickets accurately and in real time.

Preferred Qualifications

• Computer building or PC assembly experience.
• Previous field service or mobile technician experience.
• Experience replacing computer components such as motherboards, hard drives/SSDs, keyboards, RAM, or other hardware.
• Experience with ticketing/call management systems.

Additional Requirements

• Client and/or governmental clearance may be required.
• Police or criminal background verification clearance may be required.
