Job Description
The Concrete Mixer Driver is responsible for safely operating a concrete mixer truck to deliver ready-mix concrete to customer job sites. The driver ensures timely deliveries, maintains the quality of the concrete during transport, performs vehicle inspections, and complies with all traffic and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Safely operate a concrete mixer truck on public roads and construction sites.
Transport ready-mix concrete from the plant to designated delivery locations.
Inspect the truck before, during, and after each shift to ensure safe operation.
Maintain proper drum rotation and monitor concrete consistency during transit.
Communicate with dispatchers, plant personnel, and customers regarding delivery.
Complete delivery tickets, inspection reports, and other required documentation.
Perform basic cleaning and maintenance of the mixer truck, including washing the drum and chute after deliveries.
Follow all federal, state, local, and company safety regulations.
Report vehicle defects, accidents, or mechanical issues promptly.
Qualifications:
Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class A or Class B with air brake endorsement
Clean driving record.
Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety procedures.
Ability to work in varying weather conditions and on uneven terrain.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Previous experience in concrete delivery, trucking, or construction is preferred but not always required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to climb ladders and access truck components.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Typical Work Environment:
Ready-mix concrete plants.
Residential, commercial, and industrial construction sites.
Early morning starts, overtime, weekend, and seasonal work may be required.
