Supervisory Social Worker - HUD-VASH

Summary The HUD VASH Supervisor works jointly with the HUD VASH Coordinator to ensure all staff are efficient in meeting job requirements - maintaining workload and meeting productivity standards. The Supervisor provides clinical supervision that include assignments by the Medical Staff Office - regular chart reviews - regularly scheduled face-to-face supervision meetings and guidance and support as needed. Qualifications United States Citizenship: Non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy English Language Proficiency Candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English to be appointed as authorized by 38 U.S.C. § 7403(f) Education Have a master’s degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master’s degree in social work Verification of the degree can be made by going to to verify that the social work degree meets the accreditation standards for a master of social work Licensure Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS‑0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master’s degree level Current state requirements may be found by going to Grade Determinations: Supervisory Social Worker - GS‑12 Education and Experience One year of experience equivalent to the GS‑11 grade level Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment Candidate may have certification or other post‑master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship - or equivalent supervised professional experience Licensure/Certification Individuals assigned as Supervisory Social Workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level - and must be able to provide supervision for licensure Demonstrated Knowledge - Skills - and Abilities In addition to the experience above - the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs: Ability to independently organize work - set priorities - and meet multiple deadlines Knowledge of supervisory duties which includes clinical supervision - consultation - negotiation with other departments and quality improvement Ability to ensure provision of clinical social work services Ability to provide staff training and development Skill in interpersonal relationships in dealing with employees - team leaders - and managers Preferred Experience: Prefer experience with homeless population Prefer experience with case management Prefer experience as a supervisor Reference: For more information on this qualification standard - please visit The full performance level of this vacancy is GS‑12 The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is GS‑12 Physical Requirements: Light lifting (under 15 lbs.) Duties VA Careers - Social Work: VA Careers – Licensed Clinical Social Worker: Total Rewards of an Allied Health Professional Major Duties May Include: The HUD VASH Supervisor provides clinical supervision to assign employees within the HUD VASH programming by the HUD VASH Coordinator Clinical supervision includes monthly review of employee's clients charts to ensure professional and hospital standards are met The Supervisor will be available to provide guidance and direction for ethical concerns and reports of abuse - neglect and exploitation of Veterans and their families The HUD VASH Supervisor will provide crisis intervention service and programmatic guidance - in collaboration with the HUD VASH Coordinator The HUD VASH Supervisor may assist the Associate Chief of Staff/ CIS and other CIS leadership in the research - writing and other preparations of requested reports from VISN - VACO - Executive and Congressional branch representatives Performs the administrative and personnel management function relative to supervised staff Will have established guidelines and performance expectations for staff clearly communicated through the formal employee performance management system The performance - demonstrates and conducts work critiques - provides informal feedback and periodically evaluates employee performance Works to resolve informal complaints and grievances - develops work improvement plans and recommends personnel actions as necessary Provides counsel to employees in work and administrative matters and is involved in disciplinary matters as appropriate to the authority delegated Reviews - approves/ disapproves leave requests and ensures employees fully comply with time and leave policies additionally Ensures employees are trained and in compliance with all safety regulations HUD VASH Supervisor will assist developing policy and procedures to ensure compliance with the Joint Commission (JCAHO) - Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) - and other accrediting bodies and regulatory standards as needed Researches community resources (local - state - and national) that are available to provide continuity of care and to enhance the quality of life of the Veteran Disseminates information on resources to other internal Program Managers within the VISN Explores and analyzes community resources including family-friendly delivery systems - identifies unmet needs of the CIS population and their families and works collaboratively with facility - VISN and VA Central Office staff to develop and implement solutions Works with the HUD VASH Coordinator to develop a data-driven - continuous quality improvement program with established goals Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 8am-4:30pm Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay - a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade) Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave - 13 days of sick leave - 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual - based on prior [work experience] or military service experience Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment - up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth - adoption - or foster care placement of a child Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment - full time employees with a total family income below $144 -000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66 Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Telework: Not Available *Ad-hoc as determined by agency policy.* Virtual: This is not a virtual position Functional Statement #: 512-26967-F Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized #J-18808-Ljbffr Direct Jobs
