About the Role

The Company is seeking a Deputy Chief of Programs to join its mission of supporting local government officials in the fight for civil rights. This strategic role is pivotal in managing and reviewing legal work across the organization, particularly in the areas of reproductive and gender rights, economic justice, and immigrant rights. The successful candidate will be a seasoned public interest lawyer with a J.D. and active bar membership, bringing over 15 years of experience, including impact civil litigation. Key responsibilities include legal practice and quality oversight, workflow and project management, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership. The Deputy Chief will also be involved in external representation and is expected to have a strong commitment to economic, racial, gender, and environmental justice. Applicants for the Deputy Chief of Programs position at the company should have a deep expertise in civil rights law, exceptional project management skills, and a proven ability to lead high-priority initiatives. The role requires a strategic thinker with the ability to provide hands-on support, strong leadership skills, and a keen eye for identifying and addressing legal and strategic challenges. The ideal candidate will have a background in multiple subject areas of civil rights and experience working with or supporting state and local government entities. The Deputy Chief will be a key partner to the Chief Program Officer, fostering a culture of continuous learning, and supporting the professional development of the program team staff.
