Vice President of Growth & Impact
National Charter Schools Institute
The National Charter Schools Institute and Epicenter are seeking an experienced, high functioning, results-oriented Vice President of Growth & Impact to join our team. This person will help expand our influence and impact while continuing to develop and grow a dynamic array of tools and services strategically designed to strengthen performance and productivity in the education sector and across the organization.
Educational freedom is expanding. But its future will not be determined just by more choices. It will be determined by whether institutions have the capacity, discipline, and infrastructure to deliver on their promises—consistently, responsibly, and at scale. That is the work Epicenter exists to advance.
Epicenter is a SaaS platform that provides essential operating infrastructure that education organizations rely on to build capacity, execute with fidelity, and sustain excellence over time. Originally developed in service of charter school authorizers, Epicenter now supports more than 4,000 schools across 36 states, Washington, D.C., Guam, and Puerto Rico. The foundation is strong. The opportunity ahead is exponential.
That’s why we are seeking an entrepreneurial executive to help ensure Epicenter becomes indispensable—by deepening value, driving adoption, and helping translate a bold vision into real-world results. The ideal candidate will have a track record of success, a passion for quality and excellence, and a steadfast commitment to changing the arc of education.
This Is Not a Traditional Sales Role
This is not a role for someone whose instincts begin and end with pipeline, pitching, and closing. This is a role for a leader who understands that meaningful growth is earned, through trust, credibility, and sustained value.
Epicenter is much more than a transaction for us. It is an institutional commitment, and its expansion and representation will not be entrusted to just anyone. Epicenter is essential operating infrastructure to be adopted, integrated, and relied upon. Its growth depends on value, alignment, and consistently delivering on our promises.
A Note on Responsibility
With a nod to Jim Collins, we believe great organizations are built when the right people take deep responsibility for the right work. For that reason, we view this role not as a fixed job description, but as a leadership opportunity to elevate excellence in education.
What This Leader Will Own
The Vice President of Growth & Impact is responsible for the stewardship, expansion, and care of Epicenter. This includes:
1. Build a Growth Engine that Lasts
· Develop a disciplined, repeatable process for growth
· Build and manage a strong, prioritized pipeline
· Focus on enduring partnerships and impact over short-term activity
· Grow trust, adoption, and impact
· Deepen and expand adoption in high-fit segments
· Ensure Epicenter’s value compounds as adoption deepens, building a system where broader use strengthens insight, consistency, and impact across the field
2. Expand Impact and Compound Value Across the Education Ecosystem
· Deepen Epicenter’s work with charter authorizers
· Expand into aligned market segments, including:
· governing boards and school networks
· public school districts and innovation zones
· private and faith-based systems
· facility financing, back office, and support organizations
3. Build Trust-Based Partnerships
· Develop relationships with senior leaders across the ecosystem
· Lead discovery and fit conversations with honesty and discipline
· Build partnerships designed to last—not just close
4. Use Field Experience and Feedback to Innovate and Improve
· Bring insight into product, messaging, and growth priorities
· Solidify and expand Epicenter’s position as essential operating infrastructure
· Strengthen alignment between product development and the evolving needs of customers
What Early Success Looks Like
· A clear, repeatable growth engine is gaining momentum
· Expansion into new segments with strong partner proof points and early testimonials
· Epicenter is increasingly viewed as essential operating infrastructure
· Understanding of evolving market needs is sharper and more data-informed
· Product and strategy are more tightly aligned to emerging field needs
· Growth is evident—and trusted, reliable, and aligned
The Kind of Leader We Are Looking For
We believe great organizations are built when the right people take deep responsibility for the right work. That’s why we are looking first for the right person—someone with the judgment, integrity, and ownership to shape this role and lead it well.
The right candidate will bring:
· A track record of scaling something meaningful
· The ability to operate effectively in complex, trust-based environments
· Strength in building trusted relationships with senior decision-makers
· A focus on outcomes and impact, not just activity
· Business development experience
· The ability to identify opportunities and cultivate prospective partners
· The ability to manage a disciplined pipeline and help turn interest into long-term partnerships
Experience in education, edtech, nonprofit, or public-sector environments is valuable. Familiarity with performance management, school operations, governance, authorizing, oversight, and accountability is especially relevant.
More important than any specific background is posture and judgment. The right person will be ambitious but not performative, strategic but grounded, and growth-oriented but disciplined. They will be driven to build something meaningful and scalable, bring sound judgment to complex decisions, and approach the work with humility—focused on impact over recognition.
Trust and integrity are foundational. This person will be known for honesty, consistency, and follow-through—someone others rely on to exercise sound judgment, take responsibility for outcomes, and place the mission above personal credit.
This role is not for everyone. It is for someone who wants to take full ownership of meaningful work and be accountable for how it grows and endures.
This is a role for someone who wants to be all-in on building something that endures—and matters.
Location and Compensation
· Remote position with travel to state and national conferences, and meetings and events with prospects and partners
· Full benefits, including health care, vacation, and a 403(b) contribution of 10% of salary
· Participation in a performance incentive fund
· Compensation aligned to experience, expertise, and scope
