About the Role
The Company is seeking a Managing Director of Policy and Advocacy to lead its strategic efforts in dismantling racial and economic discrimination and promoting the right to safe, healthy, and affordable housing. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and overseeing the organization's policy advocacy agenda and strategy at local, state, and national levels. This senior leadership role requires a demonstrated commitment to racial and economic justice, with a preference for candidates who have a law degree or equivalent experience in leading advocacy campaigns. The Managing Director will be a key public voice for the organization, representing it in high-level meetings and events, and will be expected to have exceptional communication skills and proficiency in media relations. Applicants for the Managing Director position should have a minimum of 7-10 years' experience in public policy, advocacy, organizing, or related fields, with a strong background in leading complex policy and advocacy campaigns. The role involves supervising a multidisciplinary team, so substantial leadership and management experience is essential. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of advancing meaningful policy change, be adept at building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders, and have a grounding in community organizing. The position demands a high level of initiative, the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The Managing Director will also be involved in the organization's strategic planning and will play a key role in fostering a collaborative and generative workplace.
