Part‑Time Physical Therapist Assistant‑Oakland Salary: $35 - $40 per hour Location: Oakland, California Posted: March 24 2026 Relocation Assistance: Available Job Summary: Responsible for patient care under the direction and supervision of a licensed physical therapist as mandated by the State Practice Act, assisting in the execution of prescribed treatment programs. Essential Functions Understand applicable state Practice Act and adhere to laws governing PTAs under licensed PT supervision. Review the company Clinical Operations Policies & Procedures Manual annually and comply with its policies. Complete all Medicare compliance training as required by regulations and company policies. Complete OSHA training annually and adhere to OSHA standards and other governmental regulations. Clean and prepare treatment areas and equipment following OSHA guidelines. Carry out skilled treatment programs as directed by a licensed Physical Therapist. Communicate patient comments and activities to therapists clearly via verbal or written word. Document in charts using accepted medical terminology and format. Complete written documentation (daily notes, charge tickets, etc.) legibly, appropriately and timely to meet facility, physician and payor deadlines. Maintain open and respectful communication with co‑workers, physicians, patients, family members, third‑party payors and others. Attend or participate in facility meetings as directed by Center Manager (e.g., utilization review, infection control, disaster preparedness). Complete ongoing continuing education coursework to meet state licensure requirements for the reporting period. Maintain current CPR certification that meets state licensure requirements. Additional Responsibilities Utilize time efficiently to meet productivity requirements of the facility. Participate in and present clinical in‑services, as directed. Maintain current awareness of general changes in healthcare and issues impacting the practice of physical therapy. Play a significant role in specific area of center operations as agreed with Center Manager. Perform other duties or special projects assigned. Required Skills & Abilities Work effectively as a team member. Demonstrate effective organizational, time‑management, and planning skills. Active listening, reading, and comprehension skills for analyzing reports, charts, and correspondence. Physical Requirements Lift patients using biomedical techniques; must be capable of an independent lift of 50 pounds. Walk, bend, stand, and reach constantly during a shift. Visual acuity (near and distant) sufficient for accurate records, recognizing people, and understanding written directions. Speak and hear sufficiently to understand and give directions. Push wheeled equipment throughout the facility and in the community. Fine motor skills adequate for scheduling and preparing patients, equipment, and supplies for treatment. Participate in sustained activities for many hours in accordance with state labor laws. Qualifications Graduation from a physical therapist assistant or physical therapist education program accredited by CAPTE, or equivalent education for international graduates seeking licensure.
