Residential Assistant Maintenance Manager

Job Description We are seeking an Assistant Residential Maintenance Manager for our multifamily housing community in Mundelein, Illinois. Our maintenance personnel are a vital part of the property management team. In this role, you will work closely with our Service and Community Managers to manage the community's day-to-day operations. You will help to oversee and manage the service team to ensure outstanding resident service and maintain all mechanical systems. This position requires a hands‑on leader who is committed to maintaining a safe, efficient, and well‑maintained community environment. Our compensation range is $28 to $30/hr., commensurate with experience and skill level, plus commissions and quarterly bonus potential. Oversee and perform maintenance requests and ensure timely and effective resolution. Assist with unit turns to ensure units are move‑in ready and deadlines are met. Maintain and repair mechanical systems, with a focus on plumbing and electrical systems. Collaborate with Service and Community Managers to uphold community standards and resident satisfaction. Help train, mentor, and support maintenance staff to foster a cooperative and positive work environment. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and property policies. Participate in inspections and preventive maintenance programs. Be willing to participate in a rotating, emergency on‑call schedule. Assist with 24/7 snow removal in the winter months. Qualifications At least 3 years in multifamily housing with advanced knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems. Experience in service management within a residential community or similar environment. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to work collaboratively to create a positive and cooperative work environment. Problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
